Defining The Enemy (Joseph Farah Praises President Bush's Stand Against Islamofascism Alert)

The borders remain unguarded. Federal spending is going through the roof. And Harriet Miers in the president's nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court. But I do have some good news for you – and it's not that I saved a ton of money on my car insurance.

The good news is that President Bush has finally figured out who the enemy is in our so-called "war on terrorism."

In a speech last week to the National Endowment for Democracy in Washington, he explicitly identified the ideology of "evil Islamic radicalism," "militant jihadism" and "Islamo-fascism" as the driving force of radical Islamic terrorist groups with which we are at war.

Does this signal an end to the political correctness that has limited the effectiveness of our struggle with this enemy?

Does this mean we will stop hearing about Islam as a religion of peace, even though public opinion surveys show widespread support for Osama bin Laden among its 1 billion adherents?

Does this suggest we are beginning to understand you can't wage war against a tactic (terrorism), but only against an ideology (Islamo-fascism)?

It was encouraging to hear Bush speak frankly and honestly about the evil ideology that seeks to kill millions of Americans and reduce our country to a smoldering shadow of itself.

Here's what Bush said:

"We're not facing a set of grievances that can be soothed and addressed. We're facing a radical ideology with inalterable objectives: to enslave whole nations and intimidate the world. No act of ours invited the rage of the killers – no concession, bribe, or act of appeasement would change or limit their plans for murder."

"They target nations whose behavior they believe they can change through violence. Against such an enemy, there is only one effective response: We will never back down, never give in, and never accept anything less than complete victory."

"We will not relent until the organized international terror networks are exposed and broken, and their leaders held to account for their acts of murder."

"State sponsors like Syria and Iran have a long history of collaboration with terrorists, and they deserve no patience from the victims of terror. The United States makes no distinction between those who commit acts of terror and those who support and harbor them, because they're equally as guilty of murder." While mere rhetoric is not enough to turn the tide in a war that has gone awry in many ways over the last four years, it is essential that the American people know who we are fighting and why.

Just as Ronald Reagan clarified for us who the enemy was in the last stages of the Cold War by referring to the Soviet Union candidly as "the Evil Empire," it is essential that every American know what is at stake today.

We are not fighting a bunch of disorganized "militants." We are not fighting a bunch of people who have legitimate grievances but lack civilized tactics. We are not fighting people who just want to kill for the sake of killing.

The "Islamo-fascists," as I have been calling them for many years, have a coherent, if perverted, worldview. They have real goals for world domination. They are well-funded. They are well-organized. They are well-armed. And they are motivated.

We must be equally well-motivated and have equally clear goals and objectives.

That's why Bush's change in rhetoric is encouraging.

Chances are Bush will be remembered most for the way he wages this titanic conflict with Islamo-fascism. If America is successful, historians will overlook some of the other painful memories of the Bush administration – the borders, the spending, the Supreme Court choices.

It's time to fight. It's time to win.

May God help us to prevail.

Its not often you find Joseph Farah having good things to say about President Bush. If the Administration for all its shortcomings and blunders has done one right thing, its to define the nature of our enemy: the Islamofascists. Now we've got to win World War III. Let's roll!

The United States was in a period of evaluation for a few years, during which time God's protective hand was not on us like it had been on us before. That allowed tragedies like Sept 11 and some of the terrible series of hurricanes to hit Florida. But now the period of evaluation is over and we, as a nation, have fallen under God's judgment.

The first of these judgments to hit was Hurricane Katrina -- where we knew it was coming but were powerless to stop it. This judgment is (at this time) more on the church than the unsaved. Depending on how we respond to God, this will effect what happens next in our nation. We can turn this judgment if we respond to Him properly.

God's desire, of course, is for His people to repent, humble themselves, recommit to His Lordship in their lives and for them to pray for their nation. Even those of us who walk pretty close to the Lord and who feel the judgment doesn't apply to them personally need to examine their heart before the Lord and also pray for their nation.

If the church does not respond as per 2 Chronicles 7:14, I believe that the Lord's judgment will move from the church to the ungodliness and unrighteousness of the unsaved, and things will get much worse for us. People of God, especially those who love Him with all of your heart, let us apply 2 Chronicles 7:14 to our nation before God is forced to discipline us again...

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

A huge step. Islamofascists is the perfect word to describe the adherants of this hellish, nihilistic belief system.

"...identified the ideology of "evil Islamic radicalism," "militant jihadism" and "Islamo-fascism" as the driving force of radical Islamic terrorist groups with which we are at war."

That the President even needs to forever reiterate the obvious is unfortunate. The blind indulgence the MSM showed the enemies of our system for so many decades created this current global environment and is the same blind (and not so objective) indulgence which continues to polarize clear-thinking, security-oriented Americans over and above the disaffected elements who have and always will sell themselves to our enemies...however our enemies choose to style themselves from one year to the next. The MSM continues to portray itself as the established and by now, institutionalized opposition to mainstream America..that is, the America that pays the bills, keeps the lights on and the wolf away from the door... The MSM ARE identical to our enemies and the longer this thing goes on, the less chance there is that the credibility of the MSM can ever be rehabilitated. The MSM has always banked on the emotionalism of the pro-Islamicist posture and the exclusively sensational element of the conflict. Well, everyone knows, when you are emotional you are NOT credible!

Farah needs to change into his other jacket, the canvas one with the arms that tie in back. Although he occasionally says something I agree with, I agree with a broken clock twice a day.
