In the last months there has been a lot of interest expressed on FR about aircraft carriers. I have found that there is a lot of interest all over the net.
So, I created a web site about all of the World's Aircraft Carriers. It will surprise you how many countries operate at least one...and also how many are building large-deck Amphibious Assault ships.
Of course, no one holds a candle at this time to America's capabilities in this regard.
Please enjoy, and let me know what you think. I hope it serves as a resource for naval enthusiasts everywhere. Just click on the banner below and take a look:
Thanks for the compliment on the site.
The carrier shipbuilding schedule has them coning in every five years like clock work, replacing the older carriers one for one, maintiang a force of twelve
"You Say You Can't Live With Me, So Why Aren't You Dead?"
That's a joke. Seriously 8>)
Strange gonin's on.
Um, don't we need the Panama Canal to get those ships into the Pacific? Didn't Jimmy Carter give it away to Panama, who is letting the Chinese camp there? Do you see a pattern with an ulterior motive here?
I'm gonna hold out for Moms Enchilada's gunner was drooling over at the HAT site....sounds too good to pass up !
Thank you bttt
Can anyone tell me what type of ship they are going to give the name USS Slick Willie to? Post a pic.
A small inert sub that only shoots from the back and sinks repetedly in dry dock for some reason.....
The US only has 4 carriers and 2 amphibs?
Yeah, yeah, yeah ...........
Wasn't personally signed to me ya Swishy Rump buzzard!
However, it was the only gift that I got, so I guess it was the best!!!
Thanks again my friend.
Thank you Jeff for the book series.
Thanks Jeff, I just didn't explore far enough.
Jeff -
Excellent site! Just "wasted" 45 minutes perusing it and linked sites & info. Bookmarked!
Perhaps the first ship of the next class of carriers will be the USS Bill Clinton. It will boast the ability to steer a course straight down the middle, but will have a tendency to veer to the left or toward large sums of money. It will be fueled by an unending supply of testosterone, which perpetually replenishes itself. Its presence will always be marked by chaos and destruction, but there will never be enough evidence to prove that it was really there. Maintenance of this class will be a nightmare as items will constantly disappear from the aircraft and wardroom furniture will mysteriously vanish.
Its sister ship, the USS Hillary Rodham, will easily steer to the left or to the right, if you know what I mean. Keeping decklogs on this ship will be difficult, as there will be no knowledge of having been anywhere or having done anything. This ship will also run on testosterone but will require a much higher octane. This ship will be characterized by impulses to suddenly change homeports.
Wow ~ great job Jeff ~ you've done it again!
Thanks!!
I remember visiting Brest France in the early to mid 90's. I was working with a French engineering firm on a joint US- French naval weapons program when my French companion gave me a brief tour of this port city and I remember seeing the Gen. Charles De Gualle in port.
As an interesting aside, my French companion told me that Brest was destroyed by allied bombing in WWII. According to him it was a port for German subs during the Vichey reign. Hence the bombing.
LOL!!!
My wife could write the sequel!!
"He's Buried in the Backyard Somewhere."
;<)
good work!
