The apparent victory was muted, though, by the prospect that the result might divide the country further.

"Don't give up hope, we can still get the Sunnis to create unrest in Iraq when the voice of the people doesn't say what we want to hear."

After all, they have the example of the Democrats in the U.S. to turn to.

If its not Saddam in power, its not a just result. Just like when the Democrats whine when they don't win an election. The MSM has a peculiar spin on good news; they can't stand it!

Iraq has been a divided country since it's creation by the British some 80 years ago. The "apparent victory" will only be muted by the news media who seems to be on the side of arab facism.

How do you say "penumbra" and "emanations" in Arabic?

If it doesn't have either, the demoncRATS will declare it illegitimate.

Does anyone remember back in 1979 when the Sunnis were the "good" Muslims and the Shiites were the evil Muslims?

My mother insisted to go because she considered that as a religious duty, but not me. She said she cannot disobey al-Sistani. Why should I care? Nothing has changed since we have elected this government, no security, no electricity, no water," said Saad Ibrahim, a Shiite resident of Baghdad's Karrada district.

"The constitution will not change that," he said. "The main issue is not getting this constitution passed, but how to stop terrorism ... Now they had this referendum done, we should expect terrorism back to our streets tomorrow."

The AP reporter must have looked long and hard for this one guy.

They want to kill everyone in the world that isn't them. I don't see what you can do to divide people further than that.

One of the things I think the MSM has totally overlooked (on purpose I am sure) is the fact of the sheer of the legitimacy of the vote. That fact will weigh heavily with the Iraqi people which I hope will further weaken the insurgency. Even the Sunni who are not the minority in 3 of the 18 provinces seemed to have voted YES. "According to a vote count from 260 of Ninevah province's 300 polling stations, about 300,000 people voted for the constitution and 80,000 against, said Samira Mohammed, spokeswoman for the election commission in the provincial capital, Mosul, and Abdul-Ghani Boutani, a senior official in the Kurdistan Democratic Party" Unless my math is wrong instead of voting no by 2/3rds; they voted yes by 78-79%.

Also the mere fact they turned out to vote shows they are joining the process not fighting it. I maybe a bit naive here but I don't think so; if one votes thinking his/her vote counts they also accept the votes of the person next to them counts too.

Right, to our lefty press a divide is bad. We should all think the same...in the US we should think like Durbin or Hillary, in Iraq they should think like the Sunnis. For if all people don't agree, it will be settled by extreme violence and civil war. Kind of a pessimistic view of democracy...I guess the only answer is hypnotism.

The everpresent doom-and-gloom spin.

Ignore the spin and simply read the numbers. The title to any article about these results could be:

I wonder how many Sunnis told their wackjob leaders they would vote against the referendum and then thought: "Let's get this over with" and voted YES.

The lines of Sunnis at the polls in the key electoral battleground states..

These people just cannot seem to understand or do enough research to appear to understand. They just recycle the same old phrases and attitudes. I bet if we were to discover a civilization on another planet the MSM would describe their political process in these terms, fitting or not.

Could we please get some intelligence into reporting?

According to a vote count from 260 of Ninevah province's 300 polling stations, about 300,000 people voted for the constitution and 80,000 against,

In other words, the strong Sunni opposition doesn't exist, unless you only count the terrorists which is what the AP seems to want to do.

The crAP continues. The antiAmericans who run the AP and propagandize the war can't stand to be wrong. They paint the bleakest position using the flimsy facts to promote a lost cause.

Show me an AP staffer and I'll show you a miserable American.

By the way, I couldn't wait to read my Sunday morning edition of the Albany Times Union to see what they'd say about the Iraq vote. The paper is completely agenda driven, with almost every story designed to help Democrats..including letting inmates vote, disenfranchisement of college liberals by the lack of same day voter registration, global warming, lapping up Hillary quotes etc.

What was front page news today? No, not the Iraq vote. It was how Halliburton's subcontractors are under paying workers in Iraq. Halliburton, Halliburton, Halliburton.
