At the core of this year's event will be the ratification of a national black leadership covenant that will bind everyone to address issues of economic empowerment, youth development, crime and unity affecting black people world wide, the Rev. Robert Muhammad of Nation of Islam Mosque No. 79 said earlier this week.

‘‘It doesn't matter how long I live, I want everything to be all right for our people,'' Farrakhan said. Blacks must become ‘‘ingrained with the idea of a new world,'' he said.

Residents to march for black issues in D.C.

I think I'll march for white issues next week.

the March is all well & good , but WHY do these fellows have to embrace Islam!??? That is a great tragedy for this country.
Islam should be totally banned here , not celebrated and encouraged. I really worry about the trend among American Blacks to go in this direction .bad bad bad....

"... event ... is expected to include appearances by ... numerous other leaders in the areas of religion education and entertainment. "
So would it be a religion education or entertainment? indeed, how could one tell?

Inspired by the Rev. Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam, today's event on Capitol Hil is expected to include appearances by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Al Sharpton and representatives from the NAACP...

What an all-star crew...

Maybe they'd like to dig up Marx, Muhammad, and Hitler, and sit their bones at the dais while they're at it.

"I know when I get up there something is going to hit me," Starsky Norman said. "I want to witness history." Norman, 29, drove two hours from his home in Fayetteville to pick up his brother, Rahim Shomari from Jacksonville before they arrived in Greenville.

Inquiring minds want to know: was Rahim Shomari's birth name "Hutch Norman"?

(And then we'd like to go to Margaritaville ...)

There is another thread going on which should be intersecting this thread:

Julian Phillips on Neo-Nazis: "This is America - Let Them March" [First Amendment Kudos]

Put "race" aside for a moment and peer closely at these two groups in what they are similarly rooted in: ideology. A set of belief systems. The mere existence of these two groups keeps these two groups with membership, a core following for, eh, cults?

In this instance, however, there will be no riots -- Farakhan's groups will not be "rioted". In re the KKK? There was a riot, as blacks protested the existence of this group.

The root supposition here is that ==IF== the KKK did not exist, nor would, say, Farrakhan's group.

The more Farrakhan's group marches, the more the KKK will march and vice versa.

Around and around it all goes.

It reminds me of grade school: The girl marks the guy, he pulls her pigtails, she retaliates by ratting on him, he sends her a note, she goes public with the note to her girlfriends.

Until that fateful day when someone makes the loud remark: So and So are in LOVE (obsession) with each other.
