"I had a conversion experience on the climate issue not unlike my conversion to Christ," Richard Cizik, vice president for governmental affairs at the National Association of Evangelicals,... "

Yeah, we should simply throw out science, consult the Oracles, incant some mumbo jumbo and turn back civilization to the Dark Ages.

Pardon the cut & paste; I'm feeling lazy:

To: proud_yank; All

Dagnabbit, I guess I'm going to have to pull together a collection of links about this- first off, it does seem to be happening- both Mars and Venus are warming up, too.

Unfortunately, that means the Sun is causing it, and unless somebody can figure out how to fly up to Old Sol, and reset the themostat, we are just going to have to endure.

The problem I've had with the Global Warming crowd all along is that they have an agenda to cripple the West's economies, and give the worst polluters a pass. That, and many of 'em were promoting a New Ice Age a while back.

Truth is, we just do not have enough accurate data, over a wide enough time frame ( geologic, meaning thousands and tens of thousands of years ) to have more than the vaguest idea of what is happening, or what to do about it.

Our sister site in Canada actually has a couple of good sub-forums regarding this:

Global Warming and Other Junk Sciences
Examining the use of 'environmentalism' as a means to power.

 Fight Kyoto
For the discussion of the Kyoto Accord

Shouldn't they be more concerned for men's souls?

Cizik explains the NEA stance here:

http://www.grist.org/news/maindish/2005/10/05/cizik/

Interviewer: "Can you unpack this term "creation care"? How does this differ from environmentalism?"

Cizik: It is simply our articulation of a biblical doctrine, which is that we are commissioned by God the Almighty to be stewards of the earth. It is rooted not in politics or ideology, but in the scriptures. Genesis 2:15 specifically calls us "to watch over and care for" the bounty of the earth and its creatures. Scripture not only affirms this role, but warns that the earth is not ours to abuse, own, or dominate. The Bible clearly says in Revelation 11:18 that "God will destroy those who destroy the earth."

"I had a conversion experience on the climate issue not unlike my conversion to Christ," Richard Cizik, vice president for governmental affairs at the National Association of Evangelicals,

Well, at least he admits to one thing in a backhanded way. Both conversions are based on faith.

Micheal Crichton has a great speech on this very subject on his website

Enviromentalism was created by Commies to destroy Capitalism. That is a fact.

Global warming is pork for scientists. Now I see the Evangelicals are trying to milk it also.

Yes we are stewards of our God-given environment. Yes there is global warming. But global warming is the result of the Sun being hotter at this time, and nothing else. Just as Mars is experiencing global warming, so is the Earth. What do they have in common? Ans. the Sun.

We may very well be on the edge of a new ice age. This nonsense about green house gases is nothing more than paganism and liberal self guilt. Why sacrifice maidens to the earth god when developed nations can sacrifice their economies? Fools all!

The only time leftists mention God or the Bible is to advance their socialist/Marxist agenda.

Man-made global warming would be a lot easier for me to believe in if there weren't so many nut jobs preaching it.

Only the sun is powerful enough to cause global warming, and if we are indeed suffering global warming there is no man made solution.

I wonder if Rev. Cizik would rather save a tree or convert a sinner?

"We sold our RV, which got about five miles per gallon, and bought a Prius, which gets about 10 times that,"

RV's are used for camping and traveling a Prius is used for traveling around town, I guess the Rev. decided not to go camping anymore.

Since the RV was so easy to get rid of I imagine that it was not his first car and set in his yard and was not used much. Now he's probably sold it to a guy that will use it way more than the Rev. and thus pump more CO2 into the air than ever. A true greenie would have destroyed the RV. and got a bike.

"We sold our RV...and bought a Prius"

Great, so now someone else is driving the SUV and there are two cars where there was only one before--some kind of ecological relief that will bring--what a dumbell.
