White House officials have a message for conservative Republican senators who have expressed doubt about supporting Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers.
The West Wing types argue that she will turn out to be just as conservative as President Bush says she is, and voting against her would be an embarrassment over the long term. This message is intended for holdouts including Sam Brownback of Kansas, Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, and Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania.
"If Miers is confirmed and she winds up being what the president says she is, Republican senators who voted against her will look quite foolish," says a GOP insider. This could cause a backlash against these legislators from conservative Bush supporters at the grass roots.

We ?
You are not one of us. You decided to join the enemy.
Hey bots! What do you think of your man now?
This is just MORE evidence that RINO's are the president men.
Each nominee stands and falls on his or her own merits. It is false logic to make any attachment from one nominee to the next. That's just a tool to convince you take what's in hand, even if you don't like it, because what's under the next cup might be worse.
One has to assume that the President is sending nominees of a certain quality. Is the next one really going to be worse? Well, then it'lll be worse whether or not this one is rejected.
So the W.H. has taken a break from attacking the people that worked the phone lines, walked precincts, made the calls, talked to their friends and went out and voted not recognizing the W.H. thought they were sexist and elite, and instead is now pressuring the loyal conservative Republicans to fall in line.
Just when I think they can't further destroy the opinion I had of them, they sink lower.
Don't pressure McCain. Don't discipline Lindsey! Let Specter do whatever the hell he wants. Oh no, warn the conservative Senators if they don't vote for Miers they will regret it.
Well, I have a message for the W.H.
I am a conservative. I am not a Republican. I will not be demeaned, bullied, dismissed, subject to mischaracterization. I will not vote Republican because I have no choice. I DO have a choice. And if you choose to go down this road, you leave me behind. Do not appeal to me for contributions. Do not appeal to me for votes. Do not appeal to me to get you votes. Do not think I will persuade my friends and co-workers to vote or contribute to you.
I will do what's best for my country and at this time I'm not so certain either Dems or Reps are good for my country.
I continue to hold out hope you'll wake up from this and repent of these actions, but if not, we'll be parting ways. If I can't respect you, I cannot support you. It is that simple.
You all keep saying this. It's only a hypothesis. or is it self-hypnosis, as if this were the only issue of importance?
Twelve months ago, people here were fretting over the closeness of the election polls. Who would've thought that a year later, many of the same people do not consider Bush's word and judgement worth a bucket of warm spit. Strange...
This WH is acting Nixonian. They may get ehat they want in the end. But the cost to the party will be terrible.
Demonstrating my point. You're already thinking of a large section base Republic electorate as "enemies"? Take a look around the board, criticism of this nomination is not uncommon even on FR. Care to let me in on how you anticipate winning elections on that forumla in the future?
Nope
You and a handful of other miscreants represent yourselves and your Democrat traitor allies.
Tone deaf, denial, pride and arrogance are all in play, I think.
I'm calling the state party HQ tomorrow and the RNC will hear that they won't get another dime.
***
I got a call from the RNC the other day and I thought, what timing. I gave them an earful and they still kept pressing me for a donation. I finally said not another dang dime until this nomination is fixed, only I didn't say dang.
Every Traitor Democrat in the country believes just as you do.
You know, one year ago we were stuffing mailboxes for this dude. Now I'm ashamed of him. I think, though, that now is the time to start pressing the conservative cause. The people want real leadership. Liberalism has failed. THis is a fight for the soul of the GOP. It appears that the WH may have gone over to the dark side.
Fair bet, that one, but by no means sure.
What's the latest?

BRAVO! BRAVO!
Whoa, you said "damn?"
I bet they were quaking in their boots.
No comprehende, amigo.
