Children shot in schoolyard attack (In China)
The Herald Sun (Australia) ^ | October 113, 2005 | From correspondents in Beijing

Posted on 10/13/2005 12:05:29 AM PDT by FreedomCalls

A CHINESE man shot and injured 16 young schoolchildren as they were doing their morning exercises, Xinhua news agency said today.

It was the latest in a wave of school attacks to shock the country in recent years.

The middle-aged man opened fire with several home-made guns at the children at the Niutoushan Primary School in impoverished eastern Anhui province yesterday morning, Xinhua said.

Seven of the 16 wounded were in serious condition in hospital in the neighbouring province of Zhejiang.

One man working near the school tried to stop the shooting but was knocked down by the gunman as he made his escape, Xinhua said.

There have been a series of attacks on schools and schoolchildren around China, some by people who have lost their jobs or felt left out of the recent economic boom.

A carpenter broke into a school in southern China in April and cut off part of a boy's ear with a kitchen knife and half a girl's middle finger.

Two children and a teacher were killed last year in the Chinese capital Beijing in two separate kindergarten attacks.

A Chinese bus driver stabbed and wounded 25 primary school children in the eastern province of Shandong in September 2004. The same month, a man wielding a knife and homemade bombs injured 28 children in the eastern city of Suzhou.

"I just lost my job; I think I'll go kill some innocent children." Where does this flavor of insanity come from???

Thanks for bringing this up. I have watched in stunned amazement as otherwise intelligent friends became drooling, snarling beasts whenever this subject came up

Really angering isn't it? Got to get this little civil war over with soon. Win, Lose, Or Draw I am sick of having to fight a few hundred times a day with people that SHOULD know better. Conservatives are suppose to THINK their politics, it's suppose to be the other side that runs on feelings!

The fact that we DON'T know anything about her is a good reason to oppose her

Please show me where in the Constitution it states the President has to seek your approval for his judicial nominees? My copy seems to have left off that Amendment.

We are a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy. We hire people to represent us. The burden of proof is on those who accuser her, not on her. The burden of proof is ALWAYS on the accusers. I can look at Bush's record of judicial appointments. Point for him. What can the critics show me as a point in their favor?

Sorry you are all mad. Too bad YOU don't get to pick. The President made his pick. You all jumped up and started screaming "this is a bad idea" Maybe, but it is UP TO YOU, to prove it. I have reason to trust the President, why should I trust the critics?

Guys, does every thread HAVE to turn into a Meiers thread? Please. I understand how you feel, both sides really, even though I consider myself on the anti-anti-miers side, but still, can't we leave it out of some threads?

Not a single a person supporting here seems to know anything about her either

It is not the duty of the accused to prove her accusers wrong. All the accuser will do is make up new accusations. You all are interjecting yourselves into this, YOU have to make YOUR case to us, not vice versa.

Most of us HAVE been pointing out the facts. Problem is NONE of the Hate Harriet crowd are even bothering to listen.

For example, Miers would be the 1st Supreme Court Justice since 1916 to have explicitly stated the 2nd Amendment is a PERSONAL, not collective right. That cannot even be said about Judge Bork. She sounds pretty Strict Constructionist to me

Harriet Miers lead the fight to change the ABA position on Abortion. Considering how completely mental that position must of made most of her Left Wing peers, it seems she is NOT a squishy weak kneed person who will "cave to the awful pressure of being on the Court".

The Executive VP of the Federalist Society and Judge Pickering have explicitly, and Judge Scalia indirectly, endorsed her. Why should I ignore them an trust a bunch of self-appointed Media talking heads?

No, Anhui Province is in East China, just west of Shanghai, but there are many HUI (i.e., Muslim) minorities in the province.

It has to do with gungrabbing. China has their own gummint and we can't do anything about that, but we don't want to see this kind of thing in our own country, because of some no-gun zone around a schoolyard that would prevent a citizen from accosting an evildoer.

Too bad Judge Bork doesn't get it!

Only too true. The RKBA dodged a bullet by the "borking" of Bork.

I consider RKBA one of the most important rights we have.

During X42 regime, we took advantage of that right.

The burden of proof is ALWAYS on the accusers.

Only in a criminal trial. The court of public opinion has no such rule. Furthermore, by posting your nonsense, off-topic on this thread, you're not doing your case, or your client, any good.

No one is going to break into your home and force you to have an abortion.

It's interesting that you should post this comment on a thread about China where they DO break into your home to force you to have an abortion. Also, remember that our domestic pro-abortion advocates, including Hillary, recently attended a conference hosted in China and didn't bother to complain about this practice.

From the perspective of the baby being murdered, it's more like breaking into their home and killing them.

But you probably don't care about the baby's rights ....
