American Girl teams with pro-abortion, pro-lesbian group

American Girl teams with pro-abortion, pro-lesbian group

Possibly some of you have daughters who play with the American Girl dolls or read their books. You may even be thinking about buying a doll or books for Christmas. Well, it turns out American Girl (owned by Mattel) is partnering with a group called Girls Inc. to sell a bracelet, the "I Can" band, which financially supports Girls Inc. Seventy cents of every purchase goes to Girls Inc. The band is sold on the American Girl webpage with a large ad and a link to the Girls Inc. webpage. In addition, the webpage says American Girl is giving $50,000 to Girls, Inc.

The problem here is that Girls Inc. has on their webpage a statement saying they particularly support abortion and a girl's right to abort an unwanted baby. They were quite clear about their support for Roe, so there is no mistake or room for confusion on that count. Additionally, Girls Inc. supports contraceptives for girls.

They also support and offer resources encouraging lesbian and bi-sexual lifestyles, actually offering resources for girls. One of their publications states, "The emergence of a lesbian identity is an ongoing process, rather than an event."

Of course, American Girl itself is a separate company, unrelated to Girls, Inc. except now by webpage and the seventy cents on every bracelet. I checked out the Girls, Inc. website, and it is exactly as I have told you. Below are some direct links, so that you can see them for yourself.

Please send them an email expressing your disappointment and let American Girl president Ellen Brothers know the company's decision casts a great shadow over their trustworthiness to put the welfare of girls and children first.

AMEN to that!

We have sent an email and made our call.

We also pulled out all my daughter's American Girl magazines. We thought they were "safe" - we did not find any lesbian or pro-abortion propaganda though.

Our daughter is upset - she is 13. The magazine was the last clean fun mag for girls. There is no better alternative.

The more we think about it the less sense it makes.

American Girl dolls & magazine have always been "traditional" - conservative Christians are the customers. How many liberals do you see buying historical dolls for their daughters? Why would they do this to themselves? It certainly won't increase sales!

Yes their target is young girls. Like any other sin the enemy tries to get them hooked young - before they know the consequences.

It does turn one's stomach.

As a matter of practicality, they have to recruit and "nurture" the next generation of ghouls - they won't be born naturally.

Thanks for the story.

Email sent. I'm so angry. My daughter will be crushed. She LOVES the dolls and the books. What were they thinking?

oooo! good on ya'!

hey, maybe it's a back-handed way for the feminazis to do the "American Girl" idea in completely. They align themselves with the company, thus alienating their base. hmmm...

well, looks like the ball's in AG's court now.

Speaking of BOYS, can you even IMAGINE the reaction if Hot Wheels began promoting a special little car and giving 70 cents to "boysinc". Then, at the "boysinc" website, parents find "resources" like: Boys and Gay, Bisexual, and Questioning Identities, Boys and Sexual Activity Fact Sheet, etc. Unbelivable. I'm almost speechless, but not so much that I haven't been as busy as a little bee emailing this information to every single person I can think of.

I cannot overstate how angry this has made me. I visit the AG store every year, spend a pretty penny, and had promised my daughter an AG doll when she turns 8. Today at a Christian bookstore, I did see some VERY nice historical dolls and coordinating novels. We will probably purchase those in place of AG.

Ok, I give up. Why would lesbians want abortions?

Sane, you and I have had the exact same reaction. My mind still cannot comprehend the wholesome image of AG intertwined with the crap that is girlsinc. It makes absolutely no sense, and I can only hope that it will be one hell of a career limiting move for some stupid feminazi.

I just can't stand it when girls adopt a cool and jive attitude.

My oldest daughter is turning 17 and had about 5 of the dolls and many of the outfits, and the younger one had the bitty babies. But AG went downhill when Pleasant Rowland sold it to Mattel. it is a shame, because i loved the stories and found it an excellent way to have the girls become interested in different periods of history. the 11 yo inherited the dolls from her sister and also read the books. i am lucky in that my girls grew out of the phase prior to this unfortunate turn of events.

It isn't guaranteed that girls grow out of a phase.

I had a doll collection. I passed it on to my daughter.

American Girl was going to be her collection. Dolls like that get displayed on a shelf after the play part is grown out of. My daughter is still playing with them.

My sister in law even bought all the AG dolls for herself as a collection. She is 15 years older than I am. She also collects bears.

Regardless as to whether they are treated as play things or collected, it is a shame. That just goes to show how much more Mattel will be hurt by this Clear Channel partnership.

oh i agree. my two daughters will split the collection between them when they leave home and have them for their own daughters. my 11 year old doesn't play with dolls any longer, which is kind of sad, but they are put away and saved now for their own childen.

glad you did that. the other thing that stopped with the purchase by mattel were the events that they had in different parts of the country. We had tea with Miss Manderley in Williamsburg, when my oldest was about 9 or 10 years old. it was done in conjunction with Colonial Williamsburg, it was a tea lesson and dancing, and the girls brought their moms and their dolls. it was lovely. we did a Josefina event also and if i am not mistaken, a Samantha one.

I think they did a Kaya event last year.

My daughter did a report on native Americans in history last year. She concentrated on Nez Perce and we found a Kaya event in Minnesota? I don't remember exactly where.

I don't know who sponsored the even or if it was just informal.

Well, they could still realize their mistake.
Anyway, if there's one thing Harold has taught me it's that one special toy, no matter what brand, is much more meaningful than a roomful of unloved ones. Which, as I understand it, is a recurring theme in the American Girl books. If AG is still supporting these wankers when Cynthia's old enough for her baby, we'll just find one secondhand, or maybe a different brand. No worries. :-)
