80% of Potential SCOTUS Nominees on W's List Decline His Offer
Fox News | 10-11-05 | freedom4me

During the 11:00 p.m. (CST) newsbreak, Donna Fuducia reported that Karl Rove told James Dobson that 80% of the potential SCOTUS nominees on the President's list declined his offer because of they didn't want to undergo the grueling confirmation process. Perhaps this sheds new light on the reason why W chose Miers.

The charge of cronyism when it is fails to describe the true situation is motivated by prejudice. I am not saying sexist prejudice. The true situation is

Friend, I am not sure what your post means, but I am saying that your call to duty can come in many different ways than a letter which begins: "GREETINGS."

Yeah, and don't forget the stretching of the commerce clause beyond all bounds. And the current trend of relying on "international standards" in SCOTUS decisions. And the encroachments on the right to keep and bear arms. And the CFR BS. The constant erosion of Federalism, etc, etc, etc. There's way too much at stake here, and who knows, we may never ever have a shot as good as this one again. We need this fight and we need it now! Do not surrender without a fight!

I was referring to reports that Bush hesitated to take Federal control over the disaster immediately upon the disintegration of the situation - which he had the ability to do - because of Kathleen Blanco. The reports were that he didn't want to be seen as usurping her power - and that had she been a man, or a republican, or both - he wouldn't have hesitated.

I'm certainly not stating it as a fact - just that it might have factored in, and now he's clearly bought in to the affirmative action notion for the Supreme Court.

If it weren't so late I would Google the articles about it for you, but I'm tired and about ready to close up the laptop for the night!

as in:

1959 Nikita Khrushchev, ruthless dictator of the Soviet Union, states: "We can't expect the American people to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism until they awaken one day to find they have Communism."

1959 Norman Thomas, who six times was the candidate of the Socialist Party for President of the United States, observes: "The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism, but under the name Liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program until America will one day be a Socialist nation without knowing how it happened."

I heard that and thought it spoke volumns. I was sitting here working and thinking the direction our country is taking (in general) really scares me for the younger generation.

Perception is one thing. Truth is another.

I debunked it in May, before it was even a myth =;-O

These nominations are left over from the last Congress - and the GOP is not talking about them.

H-E-L-L-O??? Anybody home??? My Senators aren't taking the message out. Neither is the media, neither are the talking heads. THis filibuster neckweigh can be confronted before Miers has hearings, if the Senate is pressured to. Lord knows it doesn't want to.

To clarify "service in the Supreme Court is voluntary".

Until I see a report specifically naming the other candidates who withdrew, I will consider the above story, a bogus CYA story concocted by the Whitehouse to manipulate sympathy from the Republican base, many of whom are quite angry with them at the moment.

Me too. Funny how this pick from weakness has a ramification of diminished trust too. I think this is a bigger deal than the GOP appratchik realizes.

Idiots.

The President should have drawn a SCOTUS filibuster to wake all of us righties up. He didn't, so the best bet now is to confront it everywhere else.

Maybe those who've said they were going to outlaw abortion would rather keep things the way they are, in order to use it as a fund raising and a get out the vote issue.
