During the 11:00 p.m. (CST) newsbreak, Donna Fuducia reported that Karl Rove told James Dobson that 80% of the potential SCOTUS nominees on the President's list declined his offer because of they didn't want to undergo the grueling confirmation process. Perhaps this sheds new light on the reason why W chose Miers.

THis capitulation without a fight to a 60 vote supermajority is probably a big part of the cause of this "whatever." And it is going unchallenged.

O'Connor's seat was not to be a "woman's seat". If that had been the plan, Roberts would not have been nominated.

Excellent point. But I also remember everyone last July was expecting Rehnquist to step aside, or die. It may have been that Roberts was supposed to get Rehnquist's seat, and Rehnquist didn't die or get out of the way soon enough.

Estrada declined to be in the mix because of the obstruction the dems did to him last time.

Dems obstruction has kept conservative heavyweights away knowing they will be fillabustered.

Why go through a whole confirmation process and get nothing out of it.

Estrada's wife had a miscarraige during the dems brutality and then passed away from the stress related to it.


Everyone will blame Bush but the dems are the real enemies in this.
