I think I viewed the same video - the camera kept rolling as the poor guy was sitting there covered with, and sitting in, a pool of his own blood, and what were the prissy cops doing??
Getting the blood off their own hands with gel or hand-wipes or something. Yup, that'll sit well with a jury. Note to NOLA cops: just wear gloves next time. If you're unsure of the size, ask OJ.

No doubt a lawsuit is coming, but how do you collect a settlement from a city that is bankrupt?

Well, one could attach some of the property the city still owns. City Hall, for instance.

I saw the gentleman who was beaten, he was interviewed on tv today. I refer to this man as a gentleman because that is the way he conducted himself. He did not bad mouth the cops, but was disgusted at what had happened. He said he hadn't drank in years and also said that maybe they thought he was drunk because he doesn't walk too well. When he walked it was with a kind of unsteady gait, like he had arthritis or something.

Shame on the police who beat this man. I didn't think much of NO before this happened but now I think even less. As other's have stated, if this is what awaits a visitor I don't think many tourists will go there.

Good question. I suspect that incidents like this (as well as looting and complicity in looting, and highly selective law enforcement by New Orleans' "Finest") will cause a municipal bankruptcy filing, in order to protect any assets they may still have.

Something is crazy in New Orleans when an elementary teacher is on trial for not being drunk and four police officers using Soviet-style tactics are not on trial. They should be deported.

"...The overweight donut eater who confronted the AP reporter..."

Sometimes AP reporters can be jerks. But, in this case, they were helping to save America. Keep those cameras rolling, boys. Shine the light of truth on the police.
The officer confronting the reporter is a communist.
He shouldn't be wearing a badge. What's his name? Let's find out a little about him.

The NOPD already has two former cops on "death row" - including one that shot and killed a fellow officer that attempted to stop them from committing armed robbery.

"He wasn't threatening anyone."

He was singing off key. If ya let one do it, they'll all want to do it.

Louisiana is a third world country, and New Orleans is the most corrupt city in that stinking hellhole. Rita was supposed to finish the off sin city, but she was just a little off course.

I have hard for years that NO has the most corrupt police, but will reserve judgment until I actually see the tape. ( I haven't yet). Sorry, but I don't think the LAPD were wrong with King, but that doesn't mean these weren't.

Somehow they better find a way to settle out of court in so far as a civil lawsuit - i.e. as I doubt that a jury would actually buy a "police were exhausted" defense.

Or was it 500 cops on the police payroll who never existed in the first place?

Is this being investigated?

I can't decide what's worse: watching that incredibly dangerous old man get beaten up (and probably permanently injured) or watching the press get intimidated.

I almost had a run-in with one while on foot with my equally dangerous appearing middle-aged wife while dropping a few thou there. About these guys, I've got to believe that the absolute worst place for a NO policeman would be on the wrong side of the bars in a NO jail.

Let's put it this way: their bicycle riding days (if any) are just about over.

You can't blame those officers. They were just stressed out working all that overtime covering for their fellow officers who have been vacationing in Las Vegas at taxpayer's expense.

Should have been easy enough to determine his blood alcohol level, right? I hope someone did that...

My forearms stay scabbed up all the time from lurching into things, my hips and knees are shot. I guess I better stay out of NOLA.

"He should own everything in New Orleans after this... "
----
Great attitude. And whose ownership exactly will he be usurping? I don't care if he was beat to a pulp or tickled until he wet his pants, tax payers in N.O. (and elsewhere, for that matter) have a big enough bill to pay already, IMO. Remember, government doesn't pay anyone a single penny, but merely is the Black Hand middleman in the redistribution of wealth, less a good beak-wetting of their own.

I've always loved my women drunk. That is until they loose the expensive dinner I bought for them in my car. :-(
