Sen. John McCain: I Want to Be President, Not VP

Arizona Sen. John McCain is considering a 2008 run for president but says it's unlikely he'd take the No. 2 spot.

In an appearance Sunday at a fund-raiser for a local New York candidate, the Republican seemed to humorously rule out ever accepting a vice presidential post.

"I spent all those years in a North Vietnamese prison camp, kept in the dark, fed scraps, why the hell would I want to do that all over again?" he said, the New York Daily News reported in Monday editions.

McCain, who ran for president in 2000, was re-elected to a six-year Senate term in 2004.

He told the newspaper that he was seriously considering a 2008 bid. As he has before, McCain said he will wait until after the 2006 election to decide about his political future.

The Staten Island fund-raiser brought in $200 per person for Borough President James Molinaro, who is running for re-election.

I thought Johnny wasn't going to run for President again. Didn't he say that awhile back?

Anyway, here are your selections for president in 2008.

John McCain (R) Hillary Clinton (D)

What do you do on election day?

1. Vote McCain.

2. Vote Hillary.

3. Stay Home.

4. Move to France (or Canada).

5. Get Drunk.

6. Other.

Hold my nose, scrunch up my eyes, cross my fingers, beg forgiveness, and vote for McCain.

No way in Hell I'm voting for Hitlery! Ever!

I will not be voting Democrat, even if there's an "R" after his name.

Is this continual mention of RINOs as presidential candidates a joke? I don't get it....

This is hard on the brain and stomach. Never Hitlery -- might as well vote for Karl Marx. Talk about the lesser of TWO EVILS...where is my bucket?

And I want an Ooompa Loompa.

In your poll, I pick #1 if those are my only choices, but I don't enjoy it.

Move to Australia is a viable option.

I doubt if he'll get the nomination. He's spoiled goods. But I confess I'm nervous as to who will get the nomination. A bad pick could throw the election to hillary. With this crazy Miers business and the NOLA spending, we may already be on track to dropping a few Senate seats in 2006, unless Bush pulls things around before then.

So it's no joke that we may be faced with a difficult choice in 2008. If things go badly, I might opt for 3 and 5 too.

Probably #1, followed by #5. Though #1 may require a liberal partaking of #5 first, come to think of it...

John McCain won't clear the primaries. He showed his true colors to many times now.

The VP, it was once said, isn't worth a bucket of warm s**t. A McVain Presidency wouldn't be, either.....
