BAGHDAD, Oct 10 (KUNA) -- The Multi-National Force (MNF) said on Monday that it arrested 750 insurgents, killed 12, and wounded eight others in a joint operation with the Iraqi security forces.

Spokesperson for Task Force Liberty in the MNF said the joint US-Iraqi force executed over 175 attacks and missions during the first week of operation.

The source added that over 50 road-side bombs were discovered on roads in northern and central Iraq, in addition to seizing over 50 mortar rounds, 80 mortars, 70 rockets, and anti-tank mines.

What happens to the 750 arrested?

Remove one arm...one leg...and their testicles.

How about kill 19, wound 1 and have all 751 watch as the 19 (like the symetry?) are buried face down wrapped in pig skins? The wounded 1 is set free to return to tell the tale, and the 750 are questioned to lead the good guys to the next roundup.

I'm afraid I fail to understand "arrested insurgents".

I understand terrorist prisoners of war that are not covered under any worldly treaty (Geneva Convention) as they are not uniformed soldiers. I also understand executing terrorists in the field, but I just don't get "arrested insurgents".

Perhaps we should get on with the business of killing terrorists, who by any other name are still terrorists, and leave the arrests to the police. In other words kill the terrorists and lock up the robbers.

The article does not make it clear over what period of time the 750 insurgents were arrested. If this occurred in one day, within one mission, then we can rejoice that something really good is happening over there.

In order for 750 insurgents to be corralled at one time, then it has to have occurred through a tip from someone truly in the know.

The fact that 750 insurgents would be captured and only 12 killed means that these people gave up early, didn't put up much of a fight. This means that fewer and fewer jihadis are willing to die for what they see as a losing cause, in my view.

There's a morale problem in the enemy camp if this report is true.

Dream on. Thats what should happen. What will happen is they will be given hot showers, three meals a day, and plenty of opportunity to network among their fellow jehaidists and plan the killing of innocent Americans while amnesty international and the democrats arrange for them to be released. It will be a relaxing holiday for the 750 arrested.

They really need to be shot. It's the only way we will ever hope to win. As it stands now, they are laughing at us.

I'm not so sure about that.

Maybe they arrested 1500...and already shot 750.

As you said, I can dream, can't I?

Much to my chagrin I completely agree with your first paragraph. However, of 750 captives, would it really be prudent to shoot them all even after intense interrogation? What is the possibility of some of them being "turned" or "doubled"? Not a flame, merely my ignorance.

The military bloggers and reporters embedded with our troops have repeatedly said our forces go out of their way to capture, rather than kill, their targets. Not because they harbor any delusions about the nature of their enemy, but for one, simple reason; they sing like canaries.

Just adding a note of caution what kind of operation was this.

It sounds like a what we used to call a razzia in North Ireland.

That is a night time or dawn raid on a location sat a city block a town.

Most of the male population would be rounded up for questioning so I would ask how many of these 750 are harden terrorists. sympathizers or just locals in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I totally agree.

At this rate I need to invest in the company that will be building all these prisons to hold all the insurgents that we will be arresting.
