Mink Activist 'Would do it all over again' (Animal Rights Terrorist Alert)

Peter Daniel Young, an animal rights activist who faces federal prison for freeing thousands of mink from Midwestern fur farms, says he'd do it again, and doing time will be nothing compared to what caged animals suffer.

Young said in an interview from jail he believes he saved the minks from slavery.

"I would do it all over again," he said. "As bad as it could get (in prison), it will never be as bad as it was for those mink."

Federal prosecutors believe Young and an accomplice were acting on behalf of the Animal Liberation Front when they broke onto mink farms in Iowa, South Dakota and Wisconsin in 1997 and freed about 7,000 mink. The FBI considers groups like ALF the nation's top domestic terrorist threat.

"If saving thousands of lives makes a terrorist, then I certainly embrace the label," Young said. "I would have been just as fast to act if those cages had been filled with human beings."

Teresa Platt, executive director of Fur Commission USA, a national association of fur farmers, called Young's philosophy nonsense.

Alex Ott, owner of a fur farm Young raided in Tomahawk, WI said he treats his mink well and has every right to make a living.

"These people ... skulk around. They attack and they terrorize," Ott said.

Bwaa-Haaa-Haaa! I don't have a photo of him, but I do remember him as being awfully "pretty." Yeah. Prison's gonna be a breeze for him; he'll be wishin' he were a mink, LOL!

I'll keep an eye on this one. I'm bettin' ten to one there will be marriage proposals from his unwashed, unshaven female PETA "fans." Blech!

And so demented. I feel sorry for him.

Mink are only good for one thing. If they didn't have luxurious coats, they would be treated like rats and other vermin.

Let's check back with this little feller in a few weeks and see if he isn't envying the minks just a bit.

Exactly. They just subvert people's natural sympathy for animals for their stupid cause. Notice they only stand up for the "cute" animals.

This guy acts all high-and-mighty, but what isn't mentioned in this article is that he was picked up for shoplifting CDs at a Starbucks. As one other poster said, this guy has a thing against capitalism.

I've heard that mink farmers are really glad when harvest time comes around because minks have really nasty dispositions.

"I would do it all over again," he said.

This statement alone should get him the max sentence, hopefully many years.

On the bright side, he will soon know what f#@k like a mink really means....

lol....I'm no prude but I walked out of Pulp Fiction at that scene....purely as an act of self-preservation for my sex drive.

If Terentino had died in a plane accident right after making Reservoir Dogs,  I would have regarded him as one of the best film makers ever.

Now I think twice about seeing anything he's involved with.

"lol....I'm no prude but I walked out of Pulp Fiction at that scene."

I did, too! We were watching it on DVD so I told DH to call me back in when that scene was over.

The rest of the movie was, um, interesting. How DH sat through the "Kill Bill" movies is beyond me.

Oh, these minks were having a ball! Before hopping in, let's get this straight:

1) we have a man who claims to love animals and wants to set them free. 2) Yet he sets loose a number of minks in a very small area--much smaller than they would normally inhabit.

3) So they are either going to starve, fight off each other, or....

Find farms to gorge upon. Which, of course, they did.

"SULTAN -- Hundreds of hungry minks freed by animal activists earlier this week are swarming Sultan-area farms, killing at least 25 exotic birds Wednesday and slaying other livestock."

True, and that is still an understatement.

My neighbor in my old home town had a mink farm. The nasty little critters would rather eat you than look at you.
