As the public debate continues apace over how best to avoid London's fate, many here are beginning to wonder whether the same sense of alienation and disengagement on the part of young Muslims can really be avoided.

When Bloomberg said on WABC that "I think if we've learned anything, it is you can't predict what a terrorist looks like." That was good enough for me. Until then, I thought that the danger was coming in the form of radical Islamists, but now I know that I'm in just as much danger from 80 year-old church ladies and the infant children of NY WASPS.

I don't feel any safer, of course, but I do feel pretty damn noble!
