Even NYCLU has dropped its legal challenge to NYPD bag searches on subways.

Random searches divide New York

Only a liberal calls 99%-1% "divided".

The low-level nature of the genuinely random police checks may be reassuring.

Not to our Founding Fathers.

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

In 1791, everyone still remembered Tory loyalists (although many Tories were honorable and did move to Canada after saying they would leave the country.

Of course, racial profiling at that time would have targeted middle-aged white European males, as most of the dangerous Tories in these united States in 1791 fit the same profile as their potential victims.

Something I learned long ago: If you act paranoid enough, They will start coming after you.

what is this supposed to prevent ?
will someone enlighten me as to how looking in the bag ,backpack,whatever--of a suicide bomber will prevent him/her from detonating IT then and there and taking out as many commuters/NYPD there are AND those going through the turnstile and at the token booth ???
how many burka dressed were frisked ?
IF the radical mosques are still open and there source of fanatics continues to grow--what is the point of any of this ?

The only significance I could think of is that October 9th is the day when landlords must begin providing heat to apartments.

Pretty soon, people will be wearing winter coats, so that terrorists can now go to donning concealed bomb vests.

Now what?

It really frosts me that the BBC implies that the ACLU speaks for up to half of NYC.

Let me ask you a question ... do you truly think the only police activity is the visible presence of cops' searching bags, etc?

I went through NYC on Amtrak last week. The place is a $hithole freak show to say the least.

Too many scary people in too little space.
I would have carried if I knew how lax Amtrak security was beforehand.

" . . . creating the potential for targeting young, brown-skinned men . . . "

The 9/11 highjackers fit a certain profile. That is what we should be looking for.

NYers have been offering up their bags for search without being asked.

The NYCLU can go to hell.

Your mistake? You can't bring logic unto a PC reality, the two shall never meet! You're right of course, but what does that matter? Blackbird.

Jeff Cooper called Los Angeles a third world metropolis formerly occupied by Americans. You could say the same of NYC.
