"I believe the MSM is making this more of an issue than it deserves, supported by many pundits who don't know her either. The Senate hearings will prove her abilities one way or the other, without our having to rely on the same people who gave us more of Clinton than anyone wanted."

My thoughts exactly. I support the President and his choice and will wait to see how she does in the hearings before deciding if I think she'll be a good SCJ or not.

"Can someone explain to me the 93/3 vote for Ginsberg"

Historically, Dems nominate people who pander to their ideology - Republicans nominate based on trying to get lefties to like them.

Heads they win, tails we lose....

Reasonable point...and I would be with you COMPLETELY if she left the dems in the 70s. In 1988, she was still supporting Gore. THAT is disturbing.

As I heard Richard Viguerie say this morning (paraphrasing):"We've been waiting 40 years for this chance and this is the best we can do?"

1. Bet you had to look those points up and didn't have them on the tip of your tongue.

2. Bush's MBA is constantly overlooked or ignored. On FR some time back a poster, also with an MBA from Harvard, commented that Bush is doing exactly what is taught in their MBA program, and doing it well. Most politicians don't have much of a clue about good, effective business management.

I can't imagine W nominating a justice who would vote for the confiscation of private land for distribution to another private party, or who would not vote to undo Kelo.

Yes...I admire this woman. She has a long public history that would qualify her for circuit court judge, Attorney or Solicitor General, President of the ABA, etc., but not for this all-imortant SC position. There's too much at stake here.

This was a reach for Dubya.

Gonzales' opinion was on whose behalf?

Thanks, I wasn't aware that he and Owens were on opposite sides of an issue.

Whose side was paying Owens?

These are not meant to be sarcastic questions. Just wanting to know the facts.

The media desperately doesn't want Dubya to be the one to put the first hispanic on the bench so I am always suspicious of anything I see in the MSM

It's not what you think. (thank goodness)

It's when I take the Big Black Lab, name of Bubba, for a walk. He's had a hard time this summer, but frisky now.

If only he wouldn't insist on wearing the black fur everywhere he goes.

Other than learning she decided to be a wiccan, I fail to see any reason why her religion is something to be criticized.

Now Will is having a fit because the President has to live with the gang of 14.

I'm wondering how rock solid that gang of 14 is. We're forgetting about the backlash they got from "back home" at the time. Graham seems to have gotten "religion". DeWine sure heard about it and he is going to have a hard fight for his seat in 06, so he can't afford to make his party unhappy. If the nuclear option comes up again that gang may not number 14.

Even tho CA has I & R it seems the electorate is doomed by an insane Court.

My sympathies.

I was speaking to the board in general and not you in particular about voting or not voting.

I hope you're right about the Saddam trial, but will the MSM give it much attention.

They are so corrupt.

Y'all think Arizona is gonna be a leader in Birder lockups in the near future ? Sounds like they are tired of Citizen complaints {finally} about illegals and crime by the same looks like they might have Petitioned Bush for more help

You think it will have an effect or just get thrown on the floor like usual ?

This thread is getting better and better every week, you guys continually "up" the level week after week.

I will need someone to sit in for me for the next two weeks. Next week in Alabama and the following week in Wisconsin. Please freepmail me if you are interested.

Gotta go to the movies and then groceries, back at three for the close. Another outstanding thread.
Remember if you wish to give your opinions on the top three posts please do so. Already have a few good suggestions.

Do you think he was a squish?

If I remember correctly, Gonzalez and Owens were on the opposite sides of a parental notification abortion question.

Gonzalez interpreted the law as the legislature had written it; Owens as how they had intended.

Oh, ack, Kristol on Fox with Brian Wilson, now. Thinks Miers withdrawal would be healthy with the President. Says it's nothing personal. HA!

I am NOT criticizing her religion...in fact (and I have so stated on these boards a few days ago) what I believe is that she has two things going for her: 1) Bush trusts her and 2) she is an Evangelical Christian. It falls off after that...
