I just received a phone call from my son that is in the Air Force. Apparently 3 of his friends and fellow Airmen, were involved in 2 separate accidents yesterday.
One was on a motorcycle he had only bought a few minutes before the accident occurred. He told me this young man had just bought this bike literally minutes before and took off without a helmet. He hit a pole and suffered severe head trauma. My son said they were not expecting him to make it.
The other 2 were involved in auto accident and my son told me they had to get the jaws of life to cut them out of the vehicle. One of these 2 were not expected to make it either.
When my son called he was at the hospital with one of them and he told me they were about to take him to surgery. I'm not sure which one he was there to see, I only know the hospital is 45 minutes from the base and he did mention they were at 2 different hospitals.
All of these young men are Stateside, stationed at Travis Air Force Base in CA. Please forgive me for not posting their names. I do not know how the Military contacts family and since it just happened late last night... Well you all know what I'm trying to say, besides God knows who they are.
I knew something was wrong when he called and he was so shaken. That is saying a lot because my son is a very strong individual that is always in control. When he was 19 he was shot in the face with a .38 (according to the Doctor that took most of the bullet out of him) and still managed to drive himself and another person 10 miles for help. Although the kid that was with him panicked my son threw his phone to the kid told him to calm down and instructed him to start making calls to my husband and several friends to and let us know where to meet him to get him to the hospital, while driving and holding pressure on his face to slow down the blood loss.
When I arrived he was trying to calm me down, telling me he was going to be ok. All the while with a shatter jaw and tremendous amount of blood loss. So like I said for him to be shaken, I know this is not the norm for him.
Please pray for these young men.
prayers up for the airmen and your son to get through the tough times ahead... It is hard to watch a brother in arms in pain and suffering they are as much a family as the biological family so I am sure that he is a bit shaken..
Prayers are on the way
My family's prayers are with them and all of our military heroes.
Praying for a miracle that they both recover completely.
Praying now.
I read it again, and noticed that three were injured -- amending my prayer for all injured to recover.
Prayer ping.
The U.S. Navy has hospitals that have entire wings dedicated to motorcycle victims. It's a sad but persistant statistic that these young boys believe they are immortal.
Prayers up.
Prayers on the way for all the injured airmen, as well as your son and the doctors.
Prayers done for all involved and the Families.
Ping
It is sad...We are always here to support our fighting men and women and their families... if you ever need someone to bounce something off please feel free to freep me.
Oh dear, if I only knew how. I still don't know how to operate this boat. In fact I was scared I was doing this wrong when I posted but I knew it was to important not to try. I would like to be able to thank everyone at the same time but don't know how to do that either.
