PULASKI, N.Y. -- In the dusty, rutted parking lot outside Pulaski's American Legion hall, the lanky lawyer looking to unseat Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton next year recalled the disgrace that drove the man he refers to on the campaign trail simply as "my father-in-law" from the presidency.

Edward Cox had married Richard Nixon's daughter, Tricia, at the White House in 1971. Three years later, Nixon would board a helicopter that took him into political exile in the wake of Watergate

OK, so far for the 2006 races, we have Richard Nixon's son-in-law running for the Senate in New York; Barry Goldwater's nephew running for Governor of Arizona; and Jimmy Carter's son running for the Senate in Nevada.

All, should they win their primaries, will be running against powerful, well-funded opponents. None of the three has held political office of any kind. Heck, why mess with running for the school board or county commission when you can bank on your name recognition?

I remember being confused and surprised when I came back into civilization and heard all the references on the radio to "President Ford."

I don't know anything about him, and certainly won't be voting in NY, but I really like what he said about the Second Amendment.

I have to go see if I can find his website again. Just after I realized he was running, I went to his site and was prepared to discuss it here, but his site went down. I heard rumors that there was an attack on his site that took it down, but I truly don't know if that's true. He had a lot of good things to say on his site. I'm tired, frankly, of toeing the party line (that's not to say I won't do it), but I'd love to see a strong conservative go up against the Embattled Shrillery.

He's the perfect candidate and knows Hillary from the Watergate days....and her suggestions on "how to take Nixon down"....which were deemed both illegal and unconstitutional. She won't be able to pull the "I'm a little girl cra* she pulled on stage with Lazio.

If Guliano backs him, we have an excellent shot....and I think that is why Guiliano is saying little about getting back into politics.

I don't think Guliano wants to be Prez but maybe US attorney general or a court position.

HOWEVER, I don't think Hillary will even run for a second term. It came through loud and clear in her latest TV series "Commander in Chief". She simply cannot risk losing in a second run.

Let's see, he was warmly greeted by about 12 people at the function that the reporter covered. Plus:
"As a candidate, Cox has traveled more than 6,000 miles in the past three months, crisscrossing much of upstate New York.", and he has all of 33% in a mock race against the beast. Plus Cox has spent 1 million of his own dollars and is ahead of John Spencer by 3 points, a man who has not even announced his candidacy yet.
The questions about Cox personally representing Chinese arms dealers will have to be answered publicly soon. That and the fact that he is pro choice, will see him fade very soon.
Pirro is a figment of the imagination of everybody but the voters. She has gotten non stop free coverage from both the old and new media. Sean Hannity has done everything but kiss her on his show and still NO fire! As the punchline of the old joke goes, "The dogs don't like the food"!
When she is forced spell out her pro gay marriage, pro affirmative action pro choice and anti 2nd amendment positions she will fade in a primary.
Conservative Republicans vote in primaries. Neither of these people are exciting the people who count, those who will be voting in the primary.
Spencer is pro life anti gay marriage pro second amendment. He has won election and re election in 2 to 1 Democrat Yonkers.
The Zogby poll from this week shown her at 34, him at 33 and the unannounced John Spencer at 30. With a reported 4% margin for error, the problem for Pirro and Cox is they are no better than statistically tied with the unannounced
John Spencer.
