Your first troll?

It wasn't the first troll that I have read on FR. At Prout's insistence, I've lurked off and on for a year or so. However, I think that it is the first instance where I've actually responded (sort of) to a troll. I just wish that I had read the comment that started the whole thing. (I think that this is where the post-recovering techniques come in to play. I'll give it a try later.)

Hey Johnny boy, WE ARE THE GOOD GUYS, but that doesn't mean we don't need to kick ass and take names against our most evil, violent, and primal enemies.

We must do WHATEVER IS NECESSARY to get information that leads to as many captures or deaths of these vile animals as possible. If that means torturing the sh*t out of them, as long as it works... OH WELL.

When we begin to torture them, we lose all claim to be the good guys. We become like them, vile animals.

When we begin to confuse the role of soldier, MP, interrogator and torturer, we subtly teach our boys to become torturers and when they have come to like it, we have corrupted them.

I'm not willing to throw away a major metropolitan area. So the law has it limits, especially to an enemy that respect none of ours. Where do we owe any rights to a sworn enemy who is alien to our whole system? One or two people get pampered while millions are exterminated. Simple choice to me.
