ROBERT BORK CALLS THE HARRIET MIERS NOMINATION "A DISASTER" ON TONIGHT'S "THE SITUATION WITH TUCKER CARLSON"
SECAUCUS, NJ - October 7, 2005 - Tonight on MSNBC's "The Situation with Tucker Carlson," former judge and Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork tells Tucker Carlson the Harriet Miers' nomination is "a disaster on every level," that Miers has "no experience with constitutional law whatever" and that the nomination is a "slap in the face" to conservatives.
Following is a transcript of the conversation, which will telecast tonight at 11 p.m. (ET). A full transcript of the show will be available later tonight at www.tv.msnbc.com. "The Situation with Tucker Carlson" telecasts Monday through Friday at 11 p.m. (ET).

I don't go out of my way to broach the topic......but I don't hesitate to let it be known that it is murder.
Come on, I want an answer. I'm waiting....
Admit a dire mistake was made (the way grownups are supposed to do); withdraw the nomination; and put forth, instead, someone of sufficient caliber to merit the position.
Notice how it was a (so-called) "hysteric" who pointed out the easy, obvious solution, as opposed to suggesting (say, for instance) "dumping GW for the next three years," or "electing leftist liberals into office."
Goodness, that was easy. Next...?
Hatch is also the man who utterly mishandled the Republican defense of Bork during the Senate hearings.
I believ you. Some years ago I heard Bork on CSPAN commenting on the second amendment. I about soiled my trousers when I heard his views.
It's a sign of lack of character that HB accepted the nomination, because she's unqualified and she knows it. As for referring to those with whom one disagrees as "drooling thugs" (in the course of protesting personal attacks!) - well, we can all evaluate that conduct for ourselves.
Try google on Hatch and Ginsburg...You are almost as venomous as Sinkspur...Very uncivil.
If Robert Bork were on the Supreme Court, would there ever have been a case in which he was the "swing" vote on a second Amendment case? I do not know how the Justice stack up on this one.
Maybe Judge Bork can run for President. Conservatives need someone in the White House dedicated to appointing originalists to the bench and with enough sense on coming up with a strategy to accomplish that.
Thanks for pointing that out! If Miers signed off on that 1st Amendment gutting abortion of a law, then I can't imagine a more solid reason to deny her a spot on the Supreme Court.
This includes more than just yakking with my keyboard on FR - it's time to give some Senators calls - at least the ones who properly voted against CFR.
He keeps saying he's not criticizing Meier......so who IS he criticizing?????
Now whining that he's tired tonight so he doesn't want to talk about Meier anymore.
You have to wonder if he ever goes back and actually listens to what he's said or reads some of his comments.
He blamed McCain for the nomination stalemate, but said the blame belongs to the President for nominating Meier.
Does that makes sense??????LOL......
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
Was Bork able to make suggestions during the vetting process for Roberts or Miers or any of the appellate nominations?
John Sununu: "Souter will be a homerun for conservatives." Trust President George Herbert Walker Bush.
Wake up. Trust does not mean jack, as we saw with Bush Sr.
I agree with Robert Bork and most all conservatives who are not party loyalists--this pick is a disaster, and George Bush is a total disaster for picking her.
I keep saying HB, when I should say HM as her initials. I accept complete responsibility.
Off the top of my head I think not but the day is coming and when that day arrives, of the two, I want Miers casting a vote, not Bork.
Don't jump to conclusions unless you know for sure.
Is it possible that the President may have signed the campaign finance bill OVER her objections? Has she come out and made statements in support of THAT abortion?
Very few. But then there are very very few Robert Bork's.
I do not mean this to be a shot at Bork, as I do respect the man on many levels. But he has a huge ego (I suppose if I was as brilliant as he was, I would as well). Thus he feels insulted that a person, he deems to be his intellectual inferior, is about to be approved for a job he was considered to be not suited for. That has to really irritate him, which is reflected in his comments.
On a side note, how many 'brilliant' people have you known, who had remarkable shortcomings in some areas? The mathematician with zero social skills or the college professor who dresses like he was dressed by Stevie Wonder on a bad day?
I do believe that an intelligent person, as Miers is, may just bring a level of knowledge and common sense to the position, that we will (hopefully) be thankful for in the future.
Flack with a c unless you're firing them.
Levin has been calling Kennedy a liar. I wonder if Justice Kennedy has any recourse to this slander.
Forgive my ignorance, but who is HB?
