just has to fit your political views/agenda in some way. That's the litmus test.

NO. NOT at all. It has to do with ACTUALLY understanding how polls work and HOW to check them for veracity. Their are standard polling tactics used by the pros and there are tactics used by "News Organizations" to get the poll to support the headline they want. One of the simplest is to poll ANYONE over 18 instead of "likely voters" That, as even the Hysteric Leftist tame pollster John Zogby keeps warning them is a shift any where from 3-5% to the negative. Another easy trick it to change the sample mix. What do you suppose happens when you change the sample mix from 35-40-25 (Rep-Dem-Idies) to say 25-45-30? Suppose you try reversing that? What do you think the result would be? Funny how Rass who does the same poll, the same way EVERYDAY doesn't show these dramatic headline grabbing sweeps in Presidential approval numbers. Why do you suppose THAT is?

Like any other statistic a poll can be jimmied any way you want. To claim the veracity is in the eye of the beholder is to WANT to believe that cause it suits your political biases, NOT because that is ACTUALLY what is going on.

It's good to see your regurgitation of a Bill Maher line to get your point across. Your too intellectually lazy to come up with an original thought so you need your politics spoon fed to you by Jon Stewart, Bill Maher and MTV. You are real original!

GWB's daddy got him an oil company, then a baseball team, then a presidency. He kinda bumbles through all of 'em . . . the guy's incompetent and everyone is beginning to see it, even his pals who seem suddenly to have realized that putting all your marbles behind an idiot, no matter how good he looks in a flight suit, isn't really smart in the long run. Bush's incompetence will destroy everything the Republican Party has won in the past few decades. In fact, he's actually starting to be more useful to the left now. The Republicans are starting to realize that fact to their horror. The emperor has no clothes.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Still up to your "same ol', same ol' I see. Nobody believes you.....still!

Of course it's a regurgitation.
They've been saying the same things for 5 years now.
Just like they've been saying the same stuff, in general, for the last 60 years. For a bunch of people who call themselves "progressive" they never actually go anywhere.

The only thing missing from the past 30 years was racist, bigot, homophobes, and starve and poison the children and elderly!

What was that ridiculous poll from a few days ago? It was in New York. It had W at 29% OUCH!!!!! But when you got the internals you could see the how weird dean must have done the poll himself. It said W was at 62% amongst Republicans and 9% amongst Democrats. These people are so filled with hate they are blind to reality. How many Democrats did they have to speak to in order to pull the over all down to 29%?
Ridiculous, just ridiculous!

What tripe, wouldn't you rather post this at the DU where you might find more agreement?

I was being sarcastic, but my point was more what you said at the beginning of the last paragraph. You make some good points. A poll can ALSO reflect a certain way questions were asked too. Another point was that different people can see different things from the same poll. If I saw Bush's ratings were 55%, I would think that was pretty good, but someone in the MSM might say, "Nearly half of the people in the US disapprove of the way Bush is doing his job." People with different politics and perceptions can look at the same poll in various ways. Some may use the polls to support their political position while others will say it isn't accurate. It happens year after year.

It would be nice to see an accurate poll and maybe this one is one. That's GREAT! There are a LOT of special-interest polls out there that seem to have some of the same purposes as the MSM polls you mentioned. I'm not going to trust an ACLU poll on religion, for instance.

Given the media's relentless attacks on the President, coupled with the relentless attacks by the likes of our right wing pundits, this poll is rather remarkable.

Wow...sounds like you've been lurking over at DU waaaay too much. "Daddy got him...", "...idiot...", "...incompetence...", "....realize...to their horror"..., "The emperor has no clothes", pretty much dem talking points that you can find on any Bush hate-fest thread over there and found in many DUmmies FUnnies thread.

But then in DU circles, polls make the man. Granted, everyone has a list of things Bush SHOULD have been/be doing, but anyone who can take on China at the beginning of his presidency without compromising and without a full staff, push through tax cuts, guide the nation through 9/11 and prosecute a WOT on several (military and nonmilitary) fronts can hardly be an idiot and imcompetent. I suppose next you'll say daddy bought him his MBA.
