Happy Friday, FReepers!
Late yesterday afternoon, my mother (diagnosed with breast cancer over the summer) went into the hospital to have a chemotherapy catheter inserted.
During the procedure, her lung was punctured. She's back under today to get it reinflated.

My wife and I went through this experience in 1996 with her mom. The chemo was working fine, but depressed her immune system. Her mom was invited to lunch at a Mexican restaurant where she consumed some cotija cheese contaminated with Listeria. Her compromised immune system left her wide open to a raging case of Listeria caused meningitis. Lots of antibiotics stopped the meningitis, but left her too drained to tolerate more chemo. The cancer took off and she passed two weeks later.
Along with prayers, please be extra vigilant in keeping sick people and tainted food away from your mom. I hope she wins the battle.

If any of you could spare a prayer, I can't tell you how much it'll be appreciated. If any of you could spare a prayer, I can't tell you how much it'll be appreciated.
Consider it done fair lady. In spades.
My prayers are with you and your family. May your Mom enjoy a speedy recovery and total victory over this insidious foe.

Not only a babe, but there are stories ... LOTS of stories. IF you ever pay me those beers I will tell you some and bring along Anna Lou (her buddy) to tell others.

I wish her well.
My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago. She finished her first chemo. The tumor stopped growing(but did not shrink) and the water on her lung stopped coming back. She is able to have a normal life again(going to malls and stuff like that). We just take it one day at a time.
When she was getting her plural effusion drained one time they almost punctured her lung. Luckily it didn't.
We live in Houston too.
Good luck
