Student Leader: Hinrichs Not Muslim

The president of an OU student organization said he believes Joel Henry Hinrichs III was neither a Muslim nor a visitor to local mosques. ADVERTISEMENT click here

Ashraf Hussein, the president of OU's Muslim Student Association, also confirmed that up to seven people were either questioned or detained regarding the bombing death of Hinrichs, a 21-year-old engineering student.

Hinrichs died Saturday night after a bomb he was supposedly carrying exploded while he sat on a bench next to George Lynn Cross Hall, about 100 yards from Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, where 84,000 people were watching a college football game.

While the incident and its investigation have spurred plenty of rumor and speculation, authorities have consistently maintained that there is no evidence Hinrichs belonged to an extremist organization.

On Tuesday, the owner of a Norman feed store acknowledged that Hinrichs came into Ellison Feed & Seed last week to inquire about ammonium nitrate fertilizer, which was an ingredient in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. However, Dustin Ellison said Hinrichs wasn't able to explain what he might want with the ammonium nitrate.

I linked it in post 4. When I found the print article with no author listed, I just couldn't resist.

She's really a trip, this reporter. Her demeanor, the head thrown back, the casual dismissal of any possibility of a connection, it's obvious to me.

I know a lie when I hear one.

This is sublime parody.

McVeigh wasn't a muslim eaith but I think he carried out the bombing with the help and support of muslims. The Hinrics kid was clearly brain screwed and would make a wonderful patsy.

OTOH he may very well have quietly converted to islam and went seeking his virgins.

You mean the cause of death that resulted in his body being torn to bits and pieces? Hmmmmmm . .

Yeah, that must have been one nasty case of the Flu.

Did anyone else find it odd the way Ashraf was identified as "The president of an OU student organization" and not referred to by name and organiztion until the second paragraph. I almost missed that it was the same person.

If I believed that, I would say, so what? That doesn't mean he isn't acting for them. I am sorry, but I didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

Yes! The first sentence does not identify the source as a Muslim. The second sentence clarifies who he actually is. Do you think maybe the reporter is trying to justify her silly claims by putting the info in as favorable a light as possible?

As a Muslim, he is instructed by the Koran to lie to non-Muslims when necessary.

Thanks. Everyone needs to know this.

I imagine this point has already been brought up - but didnt one of the terrorists involved in 9/11 somehow have a OU connection?

I seem to recall that one of them had supposedly borrowed the laptop of a fellow bus rider and sent out some emails on the "unsuspecting" bus rider.

can anyone confirm this? I know I aint making this up, but I may not have be relating the story accurately.

Nick Berg. The government called it an amazing coincidence.

I am shocked, shocked that you suggest that there may be any sort of media bias in this report.

Followed by a highly unneccesary < /sarc >

"While the incident and its investigation have spurred plenty of rumor and speculation, authorities have consistently maintained that there is no evidence Hinrichs belonged to an extremist organization."..........Why do I not believe this?

I was unaware that Moussaoui and Berg were there at the same time, but you are correct.

Thanks - I seem to have melded 2 stories together into 1. I recall the story about Moussaoui - but I forgot about Nick Berg somehow having an Oklahoma connection.

Plus, Moussaoui went to flight school in Norman. Check this out for more tie-ins to OKC and 911, all from Norman, Oklahoma.
