A New Yorker called a talk show this evening and told the host that there was an explosion in NYC last week or so, that hit phone service and that phone service would be out for a few weeks. The caller said that it was not widely reported but happened to his mom's phone service. I have no way to confirm or deny but just reporting what this caller said on am radio tonight.

We had an odd notice in my apartment building lobby about a fire at Con Ed affecting some E23rd St area phone lines.

It's still odd to me that we just happen to find a guy in Iraq that gives up this information otherwise we wouldn't have known this threat existed.

The qualifier to that is what happened in London, and what could have happened there. With all the cameras and survellience, one would think what was pulled off would have been very difficult. The 'incident' on 7/21 put some question into that argument.

Mass transit is VERY difficult to protect. It's also simple to case. If subways don't appear possible, all they have to do is ride a few buses to get the feel for a new target. As long as they are not in custody, we should worry a bit.

Or it could all be a diversion. This stuff gives me a headache. ;-)

That would be me. I've been seeing PSAs over the past 4 days to be prepared for disasters - natural or terrorist. What caught my attention (and betrayed their veil) is they urged folks to be ready to evac quickly (PSAs specifically said 'the first 15 minutes are the most critical' - kinda rules out hurricanes).

Another poster spoke specifically of urging the public to be aware of suspicious activity - was in the first 300 posts.

Denver's local CBS affiliate is doing a special series on the news all this week about disaster preparedness. Yesterday (or was it the day before?) they had their medical reporter, who also deployed as a doctor to Iraq for a time, demonstrating items to have in a "go bag." Kind of made me wonder...

Well, what's important is we can't really interrogate these guys very well anymore, because it might border on so-called "tortue". Therefore we have to wait until another explosion and hundreds of Americans die, before we grow some 'nads again. Its pretty disgusting. What's more important though is leaving our southern border wide open in the vein of good neighboring.

LOL! From your profile page it appears you don't need to concern yourself with the PSAs for preparedness. Have you had this up there since you registered on 11-20-02?

Pre Event Actions:

1. Learn about the natural disasters that could occur in your community from your local emergency management office or American Red Cross chapter. Learn whether hazardous materials are produced, stored or transported near your area. Learn about possible consequences of deliberate acts of terror. Ask how to prepare for each potential emergency and how to respond.

Then you have a big long list of all the supplies you need.

By the way what state are you in? And I did call my local Disaster Management Team to find out how to prepare after Katrina. :-)

Olbermann is such a pathetic turd. I propose that he, his liberal MSM SAP colleagues, and all ACLU officials, etc. be required to be "human shields" on the front lines of the war on terror, both abroad and domestically. They can rotate shifts on NYC subways, since they should be happy to entrust their own lives to the lack of 'profiling' security that they think we don't need.... and they can supervise terrorist prisoners (with no locks, cells, or restraints, since they think these scumbags are such angels). Then Keith and his buddies can be sent out on street patrols (unarmed, of course) throughout Iraq so that they can tell everyone what good liberals they are.

If any of them survive a few years of such service then they can talk to the rest of us about "wag the dog" and "human rights for terrorists" and all their other nonsense.
