We come before You with grateful praise, acknowledging our need for You and Your faithfulness. While the world around us becomes more turbulent and stressful with each passing day, You are our Rock. Your power and Your majesty are incomparable and Your love is never-ending. How thankful we are to serve a living God who guides us, directs our paths, chastises us, and holds us close, carrying us through our various troubles.
Lord, there are many who desire to hurt George W. Bush, physically, politically, or spiritually. Let them be turned back and confused; confound their wicked plans and let truth, Your Truth, be revealed for all to see. Father, keep the President humble and looking to You rather than to his own understanding or the counsel of others. Fill him with the wisdom of Solomon, the patience of Job, the faith of Abraham, the zeal of Peter, the love of John, and the determination of Paul. Meet his needs and show him Your will. Let others see his compassion and his selflessness and his desire to serve You and his fellow man that his witness might be strong. Bless our First Lady and let her faith be nurtured daily that she might draw closer to You. Comfort her as she sees her husband reviled by so many. We thank You for the loving marriage of our George and Laura Bush and the example of marital devotion and fidelity that is set before our young people. Let them draw ever closer to each other and to You and keep them safe from all harm.
Lord, these words of the Psalmist apply equally to those who serve in our military for they battle a vicious and cowardly enemy who seek to end both their lives and their way of life. Give our troops boldness and courage as they fight the enemies of liberty. Heal those who have been injured in body or spirit. Comfort the families who have lost loved ones and bring them into Your peace that passes understanding.
We pray humbly for our nation, O Lord. We have sinned grievously and deserve Your justice but we plead for Your mercy on America. Revive our people that we might turn back to You, honoring Your commandments and seeking to bring glory to Your Name. We know that the bitterness and envy and strife and division in our land today comes from the prince of darkness. You have defeated him already, O Mighty God, and we cling to this knowledge when our faith waivers because of all the evil we see around us. Strengthen our faith that we might press on towards the goal that You have set before us. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!
Thank you Kay.
He really NEEDS out prayers and so does Harriet Miers.
Such a good woman and she's his choice.
His legacy rides on her in part and she'll do us all proud.
I'm not good at posting a prayer, but I pray everyday for President Bush. We are in some very testing times and I'm thankful we have President Bush as our POTUS during these times of trouble
I'm sorry you posted here to.
We know where you're coming from.
TOO, not "to."
Thank you for your prayers, onyx. Our President and our nation certainly need them.
Your comments are probably better suited to a Bush-bashing wailing-and-weeping thread. There are plenty here on Harriet Meirs' nomination to choose from.
I join in the prayer for our leaders, our military, and all those in trouble or in danger.
The Lord doesn't want fancy words as much as he wants sincere hearts. It is a prayerful attitude that the Lord desires from us. Thank you for 'speaking up' today.
This thread, since its inception 1,843 days ago, has always been a refuge from political discussion. You are welcome to join us in seeking the Lord's will and praising His Name but please refrain from discussion of issues here. May God bless you and keep you.
Thank you for joining with us in prayer.
Thank you.
I feel like I have walked into a fragrant meadow.
"Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
God of heaven & earth. You alone know all things. You alone are righteous. We place our nation & our president in you hands, asking for undeserved mercy. Asking for renewal by your hand so that we become a nation that honors You.
We are glad that you have joined us to voice your prayers for our nation and for President Bush.
BSF --- come over here and pray for POTUS.
I need to call this one a night.
Good way to end the night -- in prayer.
I always pray for this POTUS! :) I belong to the Presidential Prayer Group website. :)
Thank you for entering our little chapel and praying with us tonight.
AMEN KAYAK!
"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved."
- Mark 16:16
Mr. MacDonald asked the inhabitants of the island of St. Kilda how a man
must be saved. An old man replied, "We shall be saved if we repent, and
forsake our sins, and turn to God." "Yes," said a middle-aged female, "and
with a true heart too." "Aye," rejoined a third, "and with prayer"; and,
added a fourth, "It must be the prayer of the heart." "And we must be
diligent too," said a fifth, "in keeping the commandments." Thus, each
having contributed his mite, feeling that a very decent creed had been
made up, they all looked and listened for the preacher's approbation, but
they had aroused his deepest pity. The carnal mind always maps out for
itself a way in which self can work and become great, but the Lord's way
is quite the reverse. Believing and being baptized are no matters of merit
to be gloried in-they are so simple that boasting is excluded, and free
grace bears the palm. It may be that the reader is unsaved-what is the
reason? Do you think the way of salvation as laid down in the text to be
dubious? How can that be when God has pledged his own word for its
certainty? Do you think it too easy? Why, then, do you not attend to it?
Its ease leaves those without excuse who neglect it. To believe is simply
to trust, to depend, to rely upon Christ Jesus. To be baptized is to
submit to the ordinance which our Lord fulfilled at Jordan, to which the
converted ones submitted at Pentecost, to which the jailer yielded
obedience the very night of his conversion. The outward sign saves not,
but it sets forth to us our death, burial, and resurrection with Jesus,
and, like the Lord's Supper, is not to be neglected.
Reader, do you believe in Jesus? Then, dear friend, dismiss your fears,
you shall be saved.
Are you still an unbeliever, then remember there is but one door, and if
you will not enter by it you will perish in your sins.

SOLI DEO GLORIA!
Excellent message today, alpha.
May our Lord continue to bless and protect President George W. Bush, and keep him and his family from physical and spiritual harm. Amen.
It's unreal what this good man faces daily. Even this thread is not a safe refuge for those of us who love him. I pray especially for those who do not, because their negativity desperately needs to be re-directed.
Thank you, kayak, for posting this thread tonight.
