Dear Hoser,
Your fellow Iowa Democrats are preparing today for critical elections in 2005 and 2006 -- and they need our help. That's why I'm pitching in and coming to Iowa this Sunday October 9th for events in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
In 2005 and 2006 we can come together to reverse the failed course that Republicans have set the country on -- and we can begin by electing Democratic candidates across Iowa.
You know our great country can be greater, you understand that compassion in leadership is not just reserved for national disasters but is a value that must be woven into everything we do. And in Iowa you can help elect leaders who will provide that kind of leadership.
Whether it is volunteering your time to get out the vote, building a grassroots progressive network around key issues like health care or education in the community, or donating money to help friends campaign more successfully, you can make a difference in Iowa in 2005 and 2006 and make our Democratic voices heard.
Please join me this Sunday, October 9th at three very special events in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City in support of some terrific Iowa Democratic candidates, local Democratic Parties and progressive organizations.
1) We will start the day on Sunday in Des Moines at a fundraising coffee to support the dedicated and visionary leaders who make up Women for a Stronger Iowa and DAWN's List as they prepare to invest in progressive Iowa women candidates in 2005 and 2006.
2) We will spend the early afternoon in Cedar Rapids at a neighborhood gathering at the Veterans Memorial Stadium Picnic Pavilion for my friend Justin Shields, who is running for City Council this year in Cedar Rapids. His election is just a month away and we need to do everything we can to rally support for his campaign. A proven community and labor leader, Justin Shields is committed to a better Cedar Rapids.
3) And we will end our day in Iowa City at the Johnson County Democratic Party Organizing Meeting, where folks are already starting to put together a grassroots network for 2006. Sarah Swisher has reached out to many of our progressive allies to build a true coordinated effort for 2005 and 2006 in Johnson County.
I know firsthand what kind of impact Iowa Democrats can have when they rally around important causes. I am committed to joining with you to help elect Democratic candidates in 2005 and 2006.
I hope you can join me this Sunday October 9th at one or all of these great events for Iowa Democrats in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. It would be great to see you, your friends and your family and share in the excitement that is building for Democrats across Iowa.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
John Kerry

Is it just me, or does this sound eerily Marxist? Gubmint involvement in every aspect of our lives. Lovely. I think its time I joined the NRA.

Well, American Democrats didn't have enough of an impact to put you in the White House, what makes you think that IA Dims will have any at all??
"Hey..Hoser!!"
Laughing so hard My sides hurt!!
PS. Oh, and Hoser, bring lotsa cash.
John
The greeting is priceless. :))
Glad you guys got a kick out of the greeting, personally I found much of the letter to be entertaining!
Why were you addressed as "Hoser"?
3:00pm we will be joined by my good friends Jane Fonda and Cindy Sheehan to protest the war and bash the troops.
(Luck on our side we'll have a "boat load" of Socialist and Communist resulting in a grand photo op for CNN.)
DAWN's List was conceived in the image of the national Early Money is Like Yeast (EMILY's List) campaign. While EMILY's List works to elect Democratic pro-choice women to the U.S. Congress, DAWN's List works to elect Democratic pro-choice women to the Iowa Legislature. Together, we work to change the face of politics in Iowa and the nation.
Did you ever notice how abortion is the only issue that matters to the Left?
