I find it amazing that you broadcast for the world to hear that you would trade a little liberty for a little security.

I gave it a shot and the first website you mention it told me the address is available. The second also sent me to the CIA and I suppose now I'm a suspect, too. I'm sure it won't be long before half of FreeRepublic is now considered a terrorist cell ... but you warned us.

I agree with you. I'd like to be able to see what the terrorists are saying on their sites (assuming it's in English). I've logged on to other terrorist-related websites in the past to see what they were saying. Also, it sort of destroys the whole idea of "covert" when the CIA tells you what they're doing.

Maybe by taking over the website the CIA is preventing the jihadis from communicating. If that's the case (and they got a warrant to do it) then I'll back off my criticism. Otherwise, I agree that I don't like it.

You will be banned from FR immediately. Turn in your FReeper card and report to the nearest disintegration chamber. I have also received a message via 'Thought Control' (TM - Hilliburton Technologies, Inc.) that The CIA requests you deliver your children and financial documents before your sentence is delivered.

"Monitoring is fine, it was the censorship by the gov't that made me mad. I mean, moniter me but don't deny my rights."

Well, I don't think they were intentionally targeting your rights. In any case, do you read Arabic? If so you might get a call from the CIA offering you a job! ;-)

  1. This is probably a hack joke, not the real CIA. Kind of an inverse phishing.
  2. A child of 12 can spoof their own address. Anyone that truly was up to no good would just pick up software or configure their system to do the same. I have to assume the CIA would know this.

Also, you might enjoy the company of hairy, Saudi men in you cell. Get used to wearing a toilet paper "hijab" though.

If they want you, they will get you.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't been pulled by the CIA moderator and all of our accounts "banned or suspended."

I don't think you can get a warrant to block a website.

Yeah it would suck to find out FR was shut down due to links to terrorist web sites.

"I find it amazing that you broadcast for the world to hear that you would trade a little liberty for a little security."

There is little liberty without security. It is easy to take some unrealistic moral high ground but the fact is that most rational people will admit that there are acceptable trade-offs to be made - though what "acceptable" means may vary widely from person to person.
