Internet Blocked By CIA (Your IP is being logged) (Vanity)

Posted on 10/05/2005 4:28:17 AM PDT by md2576

I'm not one to normally complain on FR about freedoms that have been lost since the 9/11 attacks.

But...

We talk about the communist country of China and how they don't have free internet access.

Last night I was reading through some threads and started doing some Jihad research and came up with one of Al-Qaeda's web site's called Jihad Media Battalion.

I typed the url www.k-j-i.tk and it said "could not be found"

So I Googled Jihad Media Battalion and came up with katiba.100free.com/default.html

When I went to this site it started to bring up there site but I was then immediately sent to the c.i.a. website which said in the url  bar that my I.P. was being logged.

Now this scares me because, not only have I been censored to  research against the terrorists that we are fighting, but now I am made to feel as if I am being examined as a criminal now because I was looking at that site.

So it makes me feel like the c.i.a. is wondering and perhaps investigating what my motives were for visiting the site.

Now I, like many, would normally feel grateful that the c.i.a. is ay least intelligent enough to know about the site and we would want them to do there best to find any home grown Jihadist's.

But.

I felt like my freedoms and right to privacy were smashed and that I could be a suspect by the "thought police".

Some other url's that I found through Google are below but I don't want to go research our enemy because it might incriminate me. I have not visited the below links so I have no clue what they are. I am sure they are all Al-Qaeda links.

 Use at own risk.

Maybe I'm making too much of a small matter. What do you think? Also, I hope I'm not banned for posting those links because I do not promote them. I only wanted to use them as research. I guess I'll see what the censors say.

I think if you were to call the organization you're "studying" via the telephone that you would likely be monitored by the CIA/FBI as well. That's their job. I'll also note that the Web site operators of the site you're studying have a log of what IP's visited them and what you looked at. They can track that IP down to a particular city at a minimum without much effort. Something for you to think about.

I frankly find it disappointing that they tell you they're monitoring it. Kind of defeats the purpose...

Anything that keeps me and my family safe I am all for it..I would not go to those sites anyway..The rag heads should not even be able to use the internet and should all be shut down..

What? You mean they now have caller ID on the net?

Is nothing sacred?

Do what the jihadists do and go through a proxy server that masks your IP address and there is software that will encrypt all data leaving and coming back to your PC.

That is what I was thinking. It seems sort of silly to tell people they are being watched. I wonder if the warning is real or if it has any meaning if it is.

Well, my curiosity got the best of me and I typed in the URL you mentioned. After about 30 seconds I was redirected to the CIA's home page with a comment saying "THIS IP ADDRESS IS BEING LOGGED." I hope to God this isn't the idea of the CIA. This isn't going to deter any terrorist and just lets them on to the fact that they are being watched. It seems pretty stupid honestly. Anyways, I'll be expecting a knock on my door from the Men In Black any day now! ;-)

I wouldn't worry about it too much - especially since by tomorrow morning there will have been at least 2 dozen FReepers who will have had their IP logged. ;-)

Monitoring is fine, it was the censorship by the gov't that made me mad. I mean, moniter me but don't deny my rights.

"Too slow."

Well he could just use it for his jihad matericals. When he goes back to surfing streaming hardcore porn, he could revert to his standand connection method.

I understand your thoughts on the matter, but honestly, what did you expect? Now the bigger problem you face is that if the Feds decide to pay you a visit your house is filled with bomb making materials. That old bag of fertilizer in the shed, the gas for the lawn mower, the amonia in the laundry room and the chlorine for the pool can all be used to make home brewed bombs. I've seen it happen first hand. If they want you, they will get you.

Well, look on the bright side, at least the weather is sunny and warm in Guantanamo and Hurracaine season is just about over.
