For the moment, George Bush can stop worrying about where Harriet Miers stands on abortion. The larger question is soon about to be an even messier one: How exactly does Ms. Miers fit into the never-ending George Bush National Guard controversy and the Texas Lottery pay-off scandals? Here we go again.

The spin (from the far left): Miers is part of a conspiracy to cover up George Bush's role in the National Guard during the Vietnam War, and may be implicated in destruction of documents.
The reality: Miers was assigned to do "opposition research" on Bush before he announced his candidacy for the White House. So she probably knows more about his National Guard activities than any person other than the President. But there's no evidence of any wrongdoing by Miers. This looks like overheated rhetoric

Bingo....
Aren't the only real issues...'whether or not she is a strict constructionist' and 'whether or not she will legislate from the bench'... ?
It really doesn't matter what her personally held convictions are or who she plays bridge with on Weds....
As long as she does not play favorites but administers the law according to the constitution Constitution that is....
About the only fair reservation I've heard expressed is that she has never been a judge so there is no record of how she may 'judge' in the future..
imo

President Bush has already lost to the Left by being forced to choose an affirmative-action Supreme Court nominee from a "minority."
The absurdity that women, who outnumber men in the U.S. population, are classed as a minority is another indication that socialism's class warfare is accepted as a fact of political life.
It was pretty well admitted by the Bush administration that the next high court pick would have to be either a foreigner or a female blank slate. No conservative male American need apply.
Diversity means multiculturalism. I'll wait while anyone can come up with the name of any country in the world who has ever benefited from multiculturalism.
Bush said that Harriet Miers would never "legislate from the bench." That makes her totally unacceptable to the Democrats in the Senate who are bitterly opposed to Constitutional rule of law.
To quote Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), "We'll go to war over the Supreme Court."

She's more qualified than Hillary and needed no coat tails from a husband to get where she is.

How exactly does Ms. Miers fit into the never-ending George Bush National Guard controversy and the Texas Lottery pay-off scandals? Here we go again. Does this mean Harriet is really Luci who had the forged documents passed to Mary Marple who gave them to Dan Rather??
I just can keep up with this all ... my head is spinning .. LOL!!

the Texas Lottery pay-off scandals? She was asked by GW and then headed the investigation to clean up the scandal after acting as lead counsel for GW Bush for his litigation with the Rangers. I'm not reading a Corsi article. So I can't comment on what he wrote.

Yep. Like death and taxes, we can always count on the negativity and swirls of scandal from WND.

I'll wait while anyone can come up with the name of any country in the world who has ever benefited from multiculturalism. Singapore. But it's a different kind of multiculturalism. All races are respected and their cultures celebrated. Nonetheless, patriotism trumps race. There's a saying in Singapore: "You're Singaporean first (then Chinese, Indian, Malay, Eurasian, etc.)" What a concept!

This just shows you how brilliant this pick is and how desperate the lefties have become. I think this is their strategy. The lefties know Bush's numbers are down and they are trying to siphon off his conservative base by throwing some of these thoughts on the Miers pick.
When I first heard about this yesterday, I was disappointed but as I went through the day and heard about the pick, I think it is brilliant. She has no track record as a judge so the Dems will have a dificult time putting her on the hot seat, she is an insider (so Bush knows her better than a lot of other President's picks) and Reid and company have basically endorsed her. The only thing the lefties can say is the conservatives are disappointed with the pick.
I trust this President because he has done exactly what he says. Bush has said he wants more Justices in the Scalia/Thomas mold and I believe him. I have heard she is a Christian and she is pro-life. I truly believe this pick will show how great of a man Bush is and the legacy is leaving behind. He understands the stakes and the opportunity he has to make an impact on this Supreme Court and this country.
I was thinking back in 1997 when 1 million men got together in Washington DC to pray and intercede for this country. I remember Clinton flying over with Marine One to see all the men and he couldn't believe how many evangelical Christians were there. A year later President Clinton is impeached and a presidency starts to unravel.
We elect President Bush (an answered prayer in D.C.) who is not the savior of this country but an evangelical Christian who does what he says he will do and searches after God's heart. I believe we will say Miers is one of the best justices for this country and conservative Christian will be thanking God for Bush's pick in a few years.

I was disappointed as well but I am beginning to see the logic in this choice.

Ok, you prodded me into reading it, and while there is nothing new, I repeat, nothing new in the information Mr. Corsi is rehashing, the entire episode now must be viewed through a different lens.
On where dependencies and forged relationships can result in payoffs that include a seat on the most powerful court in the free world.
Very messy situation. Two simple simple questions can cause Bush serious problems:
Why did Bush pick Miers?
Because she's worked for him for 8 years or so.
How does Bush know Miers that well?
Because she saved GW a ton of money in Rangers litigation, and she stepped in and blocked Gtech.
Now even the ridiculous WB network nightly newscast can cut that down to their 20 second sound bites.

I forgot my regular disclaimer:
I absolutely hate reading WND, and fear the days I agree with Joe Farah on a point.
Today might be one of those days.

Jerome Corsi should go into fiction since he does a great job are making stuff up. He did give me a good laugh. What's Corsi's next article? How Harriet provided Bush with the dynamite to take out some levees? Here is my link...
