© 2005 WorldNetDaily.com Local and federal agents were carting away what was described as a huge cache of explosives from the apartment of the 21-year-old student who blew himself up outside the stadium where 84,000 watched a Sooners football game.
Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., died in the explosion, according to FBI officials.
Investigators believe Hinrichs detonated a bomb about 8 p.m. Saturday, just 100 yards away from the packed football stadium.
Police were overheard telling residents it would take "several trips and could take up to 24 hours" to remove it all, according to the Daily Oklahoman.
A canister trailer used for detonating or transporting potentially explosive material was being used to haul items away.
Officials said Hinrichs' motive for blowing himself up Saturday near the Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium during the second quarter of OU's game against Kansas State remains under investigation.
OU President David Boren said Hinrichs was a student "who had very, serious personal problems that led to this tragic death."
Because of what happened, Boren said, the FBI had taken over the investigation.
Boren said the student had explosives strapped to his body.
Investigators would not say whether they believe Hinrichs intended to go inside the stadium before the detonation happened.
I've been running errands this afternoon, but wanted to comment on af_vet_rr's report. I heard that on the radio news, and if it weren't so tragic and scarey, I would have been laughing. The father said (with an apparently straight face) that it should be noted that his son chose "the one" place closest to him that was "wide open" and with "few people" around.
And as far as I know, the reporter didn't ask him, "what about the large parking lot right outside of his front door?"
Did someone say "coverup"?? I knew you did!
Um, not sure which thread that is?
Thanks--there are so many of these threads now, wasn't sure which one.
Hi, Nancie--bear in mind, this is the roommate they're claiming is not only innocent, but never knew there were any explosives stored in the apartment, even though it took most of a day to haul them all off!
Yes, the coverup continues. It really does feel like deja vu all over again.
Go back to the other thread -- TxSleuth is reporting her talk radio has evidence that he was a Jihadist. I should have pinged you.
What kind of roommate would stay in an apartment with a guy who was building bombs day and night?
Only a co-conspirator!
Rrrrrrrrrrrriiighttttttttt....;^/
So, according to President Boren, associating with foreign religious fanatics and allowing oneself to become their human bomb is a "serious personal problem." Hmmmmmmmm.

New thread from Channel 5 is up: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1496790/posts
But maybe it will be different this time. We have the internet and we have the wonderful Freepers. I definitely want to be on the ping list.
See reply #337.
I don't think it will be as easy to cover-up this time, Nancie.
This morning I told my husband that the MSM is now totally irrelevant, imo.
He was asking why the MSM hadn't reported this story and I used to make excuses or find reasons and this time I told him "who cares?" Relatively few informed people actually get their news from Old Media anymore. And it's their own darned fault. They haven't moved with the times.
The suicide only motive looks weaker with each disclosure. MSM has nothing to say.
