I haven't felt this bad since my Cleveland Indians got swept this weekend by the White Sox.

What happened there? They did the same thing that AAA Buffalo did in the first round of the IL playoffs. I thought Coco Crisp had a good year.

Because the President has never made any decisions just to make anybody 'happy.'

He chose this woman because he trusts her to follow the Constitution, and because he knows her to be a woman of character.

He has spent much time on this decision, and there has been a lot of prayer going into this choice (from millions of us).

And frankly, I trust his character, because in 5 years he has given me no reason not to.

actually ZERO experience is a plus. (I am not happy with this pick with the little I know about her) HOWEVER, I prefer to appear in front of judges who actually WORKED for a living. Judges who have only have government jobs, such as the DOJ, have too limited a life experience.

She has ZERO judicial experience

Didn't Reinquist lack experience as well?

I did. If we can get the volume of mail up, then Bush will feel the air leaving his base.

I also said that I would contact our senators.

She has ZERO judicial experience. THIS is qualification to be on SCOTUS?!! For the love of God!

Do you know how many have not had previous judicial experience?

This smells of a huge missed opportunity.

Sheesh.

It just stinks to high heaven. Five years on the LOTTERY COMMISSION!

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I personally know nothing about the woman, but I look forward to learning. I think she will turn out to be more conservative than many think. But she is going to be a leap of faith as far as how she would judge cases.

I too will look forward to learning more about her in the coming days. One concern I have is her total lack of judicial experience. That probably means she will be completely dependent on her aides. It's pretty well known that toward the end of his time on tne SC bench, Thurgood Marshall did 0% of the work - most of the time he slept on the bench. His aides did everything, including writing his "opinions".

Not to completely equate Meier with Marshall, but I don't like it when it's aides that do most of the work in the Supreme Court.

Usually litigators do not become strong constitutionalists or even strong originalists. Like liberals, litigators are seeking a particular result from the law. Meirs has mostly been a litigator. I see her as as an O'Conner redux, and clearly as if Bush has allowed the politics of the moment to think (wrongly) an "O'Conner type" was where he had to go. My fear is that this might take too much wind out of conservative GOP sails in 2006.

I say lets make DU-esque a word...

Same with ineptified....

That sentence was DUesque and I've been ineptified!

George W. Bush should nominate the most conservative (relatively young) person who could get confirmed. Anything else is a disservice to his core base, and ultimately, to the country.

Reid could've said that to try to scotch the appointment, you know.

Possibly, but I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable taking that bet...

This bites. All the great conservatives to choose from...

On a personal bright note. I will save a lot of money in contributions this year.

Nothing left to fight for with this administration.

LOL. You're right. Sheesh, all of the complaining, leaving the party, jumping the shark talk just shows their childish antics, IMHO. Thanks to all that have a level head AND listen and research before they type. :o)

How can you make lemonade on this?

FWIW, how about we wait and see how she does if she's confirmed. No sense wasting a perfectly good angst if it turns out she's really not a mugwump :)

They got all uptight and started swinging for the fences. Live by the long ball, die by the long ball. Oh well, 120 days or so until spring training.

There were better candidates but the President didn't feel up to a prolonged fight with the Democrats.

Then he should resign his job and let Cheney or somebody else do it. That's what we elected him for.
