The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
I am with you totally. Instead of leaking to other sites that will print, they need to go for broke. The demeanor I saw tonight on Channel 5 left me thinking that station won't do anything.
Maybe he should have waited until AFTER they lost to Texas.
OUPD is inept -- ask almost anyone around here to start out. That said this report doesn't make sense and it is still under investigation but ruled a suicide? The BS meter is on overload right now.
Last fall we had a Sigma Chi pledge die of alcohol poisoning in their House. A lid was put on anyone in the Greek system talking and the DA had to go to a sitting Grand Jury to make the kids talked as they had been told not to say a word.
I concur completely. Hopefully it'll uncover a lot, even if we never hear about it.
"...she said it may take months before the body (what's left) is released and they have to DNA to determine if it was this kid."
""Then how did they know whose apartment to go to and search if they didn't know "who" it was? Did I miss something here?""
good question..and since there was no suicide note..how did they come out only a few hours after this thing happened claiming it was a suicide? Sorry folks..I am not buying any of this. Does anyone know if he had an email addy and what is was? U know, the lack of coverage of this 'incident' reminds me of that entire ME christian family that got killed up north and never another word although other people claimed they were murdered by Islamists. What ever happened to that story?
When anyone says there's not enough info to determine it was terrorism, and then immediately follows that with "it was probably a suicide", you know something's up. If there isn't enough info to determine it was terrorism, there isn't enough info to determine anything else, either. An honest response would be to say it's too early to make any determination.
why would they not want people aware if it is terrorism? I would think the basis of the alert system should be in play
That Christian family in Hoboken, NJ, was murdered by two local punks who knew they had a lot of cash in the house. One of the punks had been a tenant in the house. No Muslims involved.
ok..thanks for the info. I never followed up on the story and was not sure.
A really good question. I imagine that is being studied as well...
Until someone can prove otherwise, that is the theory I'm going with. All the available dots seem to connect this way... and the photo with the Islamic beard is so very telling.
Is it true he recently moved from the fraternity to that apartment near the Islamic center?

Some very strange stuff going on around there. Check out this young woman's tribute page and tell me she's a suicide. It's possible, I know, but I'm not buying it. No way. I don't think her parents believe it either.
Buy the way someone was murdered in just such a fashion on the HBO series, The Wire. Strangled and then hung on a doorknob. The killer wouldn't have even had to be original or inventive.

How did they jump to the Hinrichs suicide story so quickly? I'm pretty sure they didn't even have an identity. It would have been much more logical to think it was a failed homicide bombing.
Were there any lights by the bench where Hinrichs was blown up? I think he stopped there to arm the bomb and wait for a chance to put it on or under one of the buses. That's more logical than assuming he went there to commit suicide isn't it?
Many reasons... but IMO the most likely in this case is that a large investigation is being conducted, and those in charge have clamped down on info so as not to jeopardize that investigation.
A motion activated trigger circuit would be child's play for a mechanical engineering student, and would be effective against a mobile target, once attached and armed.
Depending on the type of trigger, anything from starting the bus to going up a steep hill or hitting a bump would cause the bomb to go off.

If "they" can shut up AP and Fox and almost everyone else while getting OU and the local news to go along, that's really even more frightening than Muslim nutballs with bombs roaming around.
Really. Before they even knew who he was, they knew it was probably a suicide? To make such a determination, you first have to identify the guy, then check into his history. But Boren immediately labelled it a suicide, and as soon as the guy was identified, he immediately spoke about Hinrich's history of emotional problems. Way too fast to be at all believable.
interesting..and sad. However..the masonic thing might have been enough to set some Islamist off. They think the Jews and anyone with masonic 'ties' are the great satan.(rolling eyes)
I've seen the small reed switches that are supposed to detect when you close a notebook screen be defective present a permanently closed circuit. Putting one of those in your bomb would be very bad.
The Palestinians seem to blow themselves up by accident on a fairly regular basis and they have a lot of experience with these devices.

Plus she obviously didn't know a woman's place in the great Muslim scheme of things.
