From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said. The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.
The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.
After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

If what you say is true then you need to change your tactics. Because it always seems like you are putting people down for there ideas and trying to make them feel stupid. The boat thing is a good example. It sure sounded like you were trying to say or ideas had no more merit then if we believed a terrorist had blown up that boat.

The Bush Family and David Boren go back to when Bush #41 was President and Boren carried the water for the Clarence Thomas nomination. In fact, David Boren was who #41 went to for the Democrats. Boren was also Mr. Intelligence of the Senate and has been advising the President on Intelligence and Foreign Affairs matters since GW took office.
George Tenent spoke at the OU Graduation in 2004 and thanked Boren for being his "MENTOR!"

I don't know whether this is rational or not. But from a "what happened" perspective, the police seem sure that he blew himself up (rather than having someone else blow him up) so he is, in fact, a suicide bomber.
I wouldn't even call him a homicide bomber since he didn't kill anybody else. He may have had plans to kill others (we have no facts to show that at this time) but he didn't.
They haven't announced any suicide note, and I haven't seen any confirmation of his being "depressed" or otherwise sad and suicidal. It certainly could be suicide, or it could have been a failed homicide bombing. I hope that when we know, the media will bother to tell us.

I think you may be on to something.

PhiKapMom, and everyone else, you all have a good night. I just looked at another thread, and though for a mo that someone was advocating Jewish suicide bombers visiting the Arab world... It is WAY past my bedtime. Vaya con Dios.

Yes, I wouldn't read too much into the caption. I doubt it is a 'mug shot'. Looks more like Student ID or Drivers License photo.

Boren said this kid was depressed and basically this was a non story. The OK Department of Homeland Security said terrorism had NOT been ruled out, the FBI was in charge of a large investigation, and that they were gathering the puzzle pieces. When asked about the depression, he replied something to the effect that was a small piece of the puzzle. Other people who heard that interview had the same impression that he was not buying the official spin from Boren.

Well, trying to deport ... would be better. There's Human Rights conventions they've signed that throw up roadblocks that mean the UK taxpayer gets to pay millions more in lawyer fees for these creeps who should never have even been admitted in the first place by any Home Office with half a brain.

So are fingers, some of them anyway. Any one is sufficient for an identification but most agencies will require at least two, still no problem unless there is a fire. (I have some experience with this kind of work.)

Well said......at least he sort of apologized for his insensitive, put-down remarks.

It is odd to me that dad asserted he thought of his son as a good boy; it implies that others might think he was not. In other words, father has been told by authorities that his son might have been involved with terrorists and they are investigating (how do you tell a father that his son blew himself up using a suicide vest and not ask father whether son was involved with Muslim terrorists?). If the son had committed suicide in a more traditional way, the father wouldn't need to defend his son's goodness, IMO. Now that you bring it up, everything the father said can be taken as a confirmation that he was told his son was a terrorist. "thought he was going to have a good life," "good boy," etc. Learning your kid is about to become a devil 160,000,000 Americans sure would make you distant and shocked, and only capable of small complements. Great insight.
To: The Westerner
I am taking it the same way. The kid decided to go in his own apartment and move out of the fraternity this fall. Now he has all the bomb making supplies and they have detonated something that I heard 4-5 miles away and I am expected to believe that this is just a depressed kid? No way.

have been trying to keep everyone posted with info that I heard from news sources today and people on campus but even the news sources are not on the same page -- have different stories to the same thing. That's what I appreciate.....we're getting much more info from you and what you are hearing on your local news. Nothing is being shown about this on any major networks. That's what is so odd about it all. Thanks again...and stay safe.
