The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
Oh my God!!!!!!
CharlesWayneCT was quoting *me* on the "cannons" thing. I didn't mean big old wagon-sized cannons like TAMU's, I meant those hand-held boomer things they shoot.
They weren't rifles the last time I saw them, unless maybe they're some kind of air rifle rigged to sound extra-loud or something (I know nothing about rifles, just pistols). They are the Ruf-Nek white cylindrical columns about 3-4' long with red writing on them. I'll look for a pic.
Thanks - this is all weird - every time I take off my tin-foil hat I have to keep putting it right back on!
You got it, pbrown. Take a few feet and then pass it on. :)
That's all right, pbrown. In these times, it is okay to wear the tinfoil (which is why I am dong so :) As FReeper Uncle Ike noted earlier, the burden of proof that Islam is not involved lies with the "there's nothing to see here" crowd.
But the pics show them washing body parts off the busses??
I don't appreciate you taking the lives of my fellow Oklahomans lightly. If you said such a think in real life you'd be picking your teeth out the dirt.
Well, hello there. I'm not a real mother's son, but I am the mother of two real sons. :)
Oh, OK--on KWTV. I just hoped it didn't come from the FReeper who allegedly called him. Thanks!
I have been a big supporter of his but right now after hearing him talk and then the OK Homeland Security guy, I am doubting him.
I certainly will pass it on.
That's because muslims don't know how to walk on water!
Broke the bench, but left no marks on the floor, didn't shatter any windows, destroyed his body, heard 4 miles away, (but was it heard on the tape of the game?).
When I was a child, we built a toy cannon, and decided to try it out. We found a few shotgun shells, and opened them up (and lived to tell the tale). We packed as much powder as we could into our cannon, put some bb's in, lit it, and promptly blew the back off the cannon, while peppering a house a 1/4 mile away with bb's. I couldn't hear for about 4 hours after that.
Maybe he made a pipe bomb because he thought it would be funny, and put too much powder in, and blew himself to bits?
Oh, I know it isn't likely, and doesn't go with the suicide meme, or the terrorist attack theme.
Haven't seen the pictures you reference - just got back to Texas a few hours ago. I know where the buses were parked (well, I know where some buses were parked - on Asp) and the reports I read put the explosiuon on the other side of some buildings. I was at the game and heard the explosion, but saw nothing. I was on Asp shortly after the explosion, and saw the buses there, too.
If it was them, scoring an "own goal", without taking out any of the Infidels isn't much of a victory. Pretty funny really. In fact, I love it when that happens!
I would like to see this confirmed by a more reliable source.
They can't prove it wasn't an islamist connection, so they are sowing doubt. BY that, they are bringing into question the suicide bombers sanity.
About the bus windows not being broken ... the odd thing tonight, among others, is that the AP story said they saw workers busy today "replacing the shattered windows in George Lynn Cross Hall" (the botany/microbiology building by the bench where Hinrichs sat)
... but the Daily Oklahoman story from tonight said "Blood spattered the lower length of the bus. No other damage to the area, including the microbiology building, was apparent."
Have been out most of the day. COuld you possible give me a synopsis of what happened....The thread is long and confusing.....Thanks.
