The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
What/where did you hear? What are they reporting?
I know and personally don't care as long as everyone I know is safe. When I heard the report from the President of his fraternity, it is a total different account of the kid then what the University is releasing about his emotional troubles. None of his friends at the fraternity seem to know about his emotional problems.
Call me a skeptic.
I tried to post a picture of the guy but don't know how. He has a mug shot on the webiste here http://www.newsok.com/article/1632030/?template=home/main
Read this article and someone try to put his picture up. His mug shot is from the FBI. Wonder why they would have his mug shot???
Thanks for the satellite photo. If another bomb just went off, that would strengthen the theory, no?
Hmmm......interesting story about the perp's so-called emotional problems. I agree with you......the burden of proof that Islam is not responsible needs to be supplied by the "keep moving....Nothing to see here" crowd. I admire the work you are doing there; stay safe.
I heard what sounded like a blast and decided I was just imagining things and then saw someone said it was reported on KFOR from downtown Norman. I haven't heard anymore but it shook my front window but even then I thought it might be a sonic boom but then haven't had any of those here.
I am spooked and I admit it. I have seen the local media come right out and doubt what Boren is saying about this kid so I have no idea what to believe. The newspaper said they haven't found anything else but Channel 9 reported items were removed from the apartment complex by the bomb squad in their container for bombs so who knows what is fact right now. Bomb squad has been coming and going all day from the complex. They keep saying terrorism has not been ruled out too.
All I know is that this has been a strange weekend to say the least. Not sure who to believe either but the President of the University is getting less credibility with every newscast.
I haven't read this whole thread, so forgive if a reposted idea.
The fact that he was an engineer should set off a few red lights. Not a shot against engineers, but MANY of the extremists from Islamist groups are/were engineers. Engineering, biology, chemistry, etc... very prone to fostering fundementalists for some reason.
Thanks for the ping bitt, this is very scary.
Which theory? That there is more to the story than David Boren says? It would seem so.
My son just got off the phone with his friend at OU and he heard and felt the same 'blast' just now but nothing is being reported yet. To hell with tin hats..i am headed for the hard hat.
Thanks. It's important to remember that to academic liberals like Boren, anyone with an interest in ammo and guns is "emotionally disturbed."
I don't know why they would detonate it downtown either. It doesn't make sense that they would do it there. Good Lord, dare I think that islamofacists are striking in Oklahoma. Two bombs in two nights is just too much to be a coincidence.
I just IM'd my son and they did not hear or feel anything in their dorm...
Sorry if this has been posted before, but another website is saying it is confirmed that Islamic and jihad materials were removed from the suspect's apartment.
If that is so (and the other site is certain of this), then it sounds like the authorities are in "spin" mode. . .
there were times in college when I didn't feel a thing....just usually not on Sunday night.
Let's put it this way -- some students were moved out of their student apartments at 7 a.m. and are still not back in -- told to take enough for at least one day.
President of the kid's fraternity disputing the President of OU on the kid's emotional state.
Local reporters not buying into the official line from their questions they are asking and their reports.
Other than that, move on, nothing to report.
