The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
A pretty big bomb not in direct contact with the ground (such as around someone's waist) won't make a hole --- the blast takes the path of least resistence --- which is up and out.
MOST TELLING, however, is the LACK OF SHRAPNEL.
If this guy planned on killing a bunch of people, he'd have taped nails to the outside of the bomb.
I posted the same just a few minutes ago. It's possible.
"This kid could have been walking past some backpack when it exploded. That might explain the reports of "five others injured."
The current story is that one of the bus drivers saw the bomber explode while sitting on a bench.
Hence the missing bench.
You beat me to it! I was just thinking the same thing, and am still looking for info on the 5 injured, a note from the guy, and more on the 2 running/dropping backpacks.
Sorry I didn't put in more info...that was the fella' that tried to get on a plane with a pipe bomb that he forgot he had with him. I'll find the link.
"McVey wasn't a muslim name either. It was only when the onion was peeled did the true story emerge."
Sorry. This third bomber - Iraqi stuff carries zero credibility with me.
Just one of many possibilities.
This is extremely unusual... fishy if you ask me.
Remeber the pizza delivery man bomber? Unwilling victim, but no terrorism involved.
I think the information that was verifited by Terry Nichols in the past few months actually adds more credence, not less... plus they know the guys name and his travels which included working at Logan Airport on 9/11.
Times out on me and doesnt' pull up. Hence the wayback machine.
Look .. Oh never mind.
Page Hopkins just had about a 10 second blurb about the Okla. bombing....
and ended it by saying that the person killed has not been identified yet....
HMMMMMMMMM
What is going on???>
there might have been a knapsack under that bench, and this guy was just unlucky enough to be sitting there?
the bottom line is - there had better be some evidence as to why he would kill himself, and that he had the ability to construct explosives to do so.
I just got up from my nap. Anything new to report? Do we have the name, race or religion of this vaporized fellow? I don't understand why there is conversation about the minutes of some fraternity being discussed. What's with that?
The one thing we know for certain about life is that no one gets out alive. Too bad for this kid that it happened so soon. Especially too bad for his family. When I was at Desert Storm, one of our guys who we left "safely" at home drowned in his own swimming pool. Life is tought, and then you start kindergarten. It gets worse from there.
Keep digging, mon!
