From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

that's a good point, suicide bombers work alone, they usually don't have some 2nd "guide person" without a bomb working along side them

Actually they sometimes have partners nearby. To take photos of their successful attack. To set off a second or third bomb via remote control to get the police, fire and EMTs who show up to treat the victims.

But this time, if it was a botched bombing attack, there were no victims. It's not even certain that the first guy intended to martyr himself, he may just have been carrying a bomb for emplacement nearby. A little "work accident" as it were.

hehe, some folks around here take their football a little too seriously, I mean, were not Texans or anything!

Thankfully you emerged unscathed, .....and probably won the game anyhow!

I think we here in Aggieville might be headed for another decade long slump.
Most of the hub-ub lately concerning the team was when a star running back tried to run over a parking cop...apparently he was too important to be bothered with a ticket.
All was quickly brushed over before it even began though, for in Manhattan, football players are truly gods among us...hehe
Still, we're better than KU, our football players might run you over, but their basketball players will certainly punch you...

They have a meeting place right near the athletic fields in a house. I never knew it was there until the Nicholas Berg deal happened and it was plastered over the papers here. I had to drive by to see the mosque as I thought it would be elaborate but it is just a normal house on the outside with a high fence and black bars.

I asked the guy behind us who listens to the game and he said nothing was said on the radio. I thought that strange.

Army Air Corps,Thank you "I just spoke with an aunt of mine who lives in Tulsa. She and her husband were at the game tonight and they saw the area marked with police tape. She spoke with one of the cops and he stated that there were "multiple devices" in the cordoned area. The cops on the scene think that the bomber was trying to attach the bombs to the parked buses when a bomb detonated before he could do so".

Thank you, too.

Hoping no one gets me mixed up with the Route66 who was already here. That was the reason I didn't register for such a long time--I wanted *my* Rte66 hat, so those who have quoted me on FR from other forums where I posted through the years would know it is *I*.

We have barcodes on our tickets and they do have the handheld scanner.

As for the search of belongings, tonight it was nothing to speak of. In fact, I have an OU bag that I had my purse and other items in, and they gave a cursory look. Didn't even ask my daughter to open her purse. We also had two seat cushions that have all kinds of pockets and they never looked at those. I asked the people next to us and they said the same thing -- search was almost non-existent tonight.

It has been that way all year. Last year they used to search through the bag not just take a quick look.

Just judging from the apparent coordination in the protest redux, I have no doubt they are using the same model. It worked for the Communists. They are looking at an America which has vowed "never again", though, it ain't gonna work this time. IIRC, the "weather underground" and other groups did their share of blowing things up and burning them down for "peace".

Thanks! I think the cell phones were shut down. First game I have attended in years that no one got a call after the blast, and instant messages with just the score did not get out. All of a sudden in the 4th quarter all of our cell phones went off that we had messages. They all went off at the same time too. That's when the lady behind us received the call from her sister-in-law who had been trying to get in touch with her.

I think you are right about detonating prematurely. Thank God it did or who knows what would have happened.

Many would argue that modern day Islam is more of a military organization than a religion. In that case a change to the Constitution may be in order.

No need to ban the religion, just ban people from terrorist originating countries. The fact that all such countries are Muslim, is their doing, not ours. Sure there are a few native born citizens who are raised in the religion, or convert, but banning all the Imams and Mullahs preaching "death to America" (which has nothing to do with the practice of "Religion", any more than AlGore collecting money in a Buddhist Temple does) would nip that little problem in the bud.

IOW, you could practice Islam until the cows come home, but you couldn't come from some middle eastern or Asian hell hole and do it here.

So now they have admitted that five other people were hurt. That's a first because all night long they have said NO one else was hurt.
