WILMINGTON, Del. (WBOC/AP)- Civil liberty advocates are objecting to New Castle County's new effort to fight prostitution: posting offenders' names and photos on a Web site.
The new Web site features photos of convicted prostitutes and their clientele. The police say they hope it will discourage others from committing the same crimes.
But Delaware ACLU Executive Director Drew Fennell said public humiliation should not be used as a law enforcement tactic. He said the photos are degrading not only to the individual, but the person's family, friends and employer.

I think we should post pictures of all the ALCU lawyers and activits, sort by location, with notes on cases they have supported. With panties on their heads?

Well of course with panties on their heads, how else? We could have them with elcro shock wires hooked up to them, standing in a chair.

Isn't it strange they don't want a criminal prostitutes picture to be released to the public, but could care less about releasing photos that could endanger our troops?Yes, isn't it strange? I'm not surprised at all really. The ACLU prefers to protect criminals but couldn't care less about our troops.

On the basis that there is more than one form of prostitution, I think that the ban should be extended to pictures of all ACLU members.

Well, the page *is* kinda helpful for some of the public...the photos will help let sex workers and johns know who isn't an undercover cop, and improve commerce (and nothing sells better to the Gnomes of Wilmington than commerce! ;-). But they could make it a bit user-friendly if the purveyors' street names, location of offenses, rates they were charging, etc., were posted, too.

For goodness' sake, is that Courtney Cox Arquette? Perhaps she is "researching" for an upcoming role.

I think we ought to take a page from those people who were posting personal info and pictures of abortion doctors on the internet, complete with "wanted for harassment" or some such a thing printed with them, see if we can piss them off

We are on the same wave length. The only pics these Marxists want published are conservative "criminals" or our military "torturing" terrorists.

That's funny. He must have been able to finish whatever he was doing before the cops took him downtown.

The ACLU is opposed to public shame of johns but they want to publicly shame our military? Yeah, that's a principled position on humiliation. sarcasm>

If a married man goes out to have a night with a hooker and gets caught breaking the law, he did it out of his own free will. I don't know why the ACLU thinks his privacy rights are more important than what he did to his marriage, his friendships, his job and to community values. I think public shame is a great way of making these guys swear off it forever. And hey if they get divorced, that's tragic but its not the end of the world. The ACLU should know better.
