I noted in reading the article that some people refused to leave their homes due to fear of looters. Did these people take in some of the displaced persons from New Orleans?

No. The article says 'Flaming Russian...' not Russian flamer.

It's been awhile since I read Pravda. I used to read it almost daily at the start of the Iraq war to figure out where where in the heck my co workers at the time (2 Ukraines, 1 Siberian, one butt kissing American clintonista) were getting their wildly bent info from.
As always, Pravda is good for a chuckle, this excerpt from a story titled "With Delay Exiled and G.O.P. Split, Speaker Faces Stiff Test":
"And Democrats plan to try to take advantage as well. They believe that Mr. Hastert and Mr. Blunt will be less likely to be able to hold Republicans together for difficult votes that lie ahead on spending and tax cuts, among others. Mr. DeLay was a master, using his extensive knowledge of members' weak spots mixed with cajoling and the suggestion of possible political trouble. "
Coming from that country, there is no higher honor than to be spoken of in those terms. Makes me proud to have Delay on our team!

All the BS happening elsewhere...Am I the only one here that is starting to wonder about all the "train problems" we seem to be having in, and around America? Terrorists seem to be hitting their stride.

Idiot union track maintenance crews don't need terrorist assistance to have trains derail, either.
Never blame on malevolence what can be attributed to plain old stupidity or laziness.

Wait a minute! Didn't it say they didn't want to leave their homes because of looters? I thought just OUR country has looters? Because of slavery and our sins and George Bush and his terrible policies. They have looters there too??? Oh, help me to understand.

This summer same kind accident happened somewhere under Dnepropetrovsk. The trains was stopped for few days.
And it is dense populated area. So what?

Ammunition can go boom anytime anywhere. During WWII, Redstone was an ammunition manufacturing plant. My mother worked there packing howitzer shells. Her building exploded around her and as I recall it, there were only three or four workers who survivied. She was never the same after that though. Just another causualty of war.

I remember reading of a really massive explosion up near one of the Northern Soviet submarine bases, and the conclusion that one of their nukes cooked off in a armory fire. This was several years back - I regret that I cannot quote source, or cross-link. My apologies.
