It is NOT a conservative behavior IMO to advocate regulation and criminalization of behavior that takes place withing the privacy one's home that doesn't pose a direct theat or danger to anyone else. Personal freedom and responsibility are conservative ideas; government regulation is for liberals.
That's simply not true. I had at least three friends that stopped having panic attacks, anxiety, etc. after stopping marijuana use--nice try, tho!
So true, another FReeper pointed out to me the the recreational drug advocates here are mostly the ones that don't like law enforcement (of which many were called up to be our troops in the war against terrorist). Not a good thing IMO, but they have the right to express their views.
"It is NOT a conservative behavior IMO to be pushing recreational drug use."
I'm a little torn on this one. I'll admit, at one time I used marijuana. I take issue with the answers to #2 and #4. Anything can be addictive to a compulsive personality. I never knew anyone who was additcted. Marijuana use can lead to depression, but users most often are just robbed of motivation. Very insidious.
One must be careful about the information used. If it's false or a half truth, it by default helps the other side.
Marijuana can be like alcohol. If used properly, it's not destructive, but it's never helpful. (I do drink by the way).
I tend to be a little more libertarian on this issue. I think the use of alcohol and drugs should be discouraged. Kids should be educated, parents should participate. But, I think it should be left to adult choice.
Should adult beverages be made illegal?
So much for the "Gateway" Theory.
So I assume you believe everyone should abstain from cigarettes and alcohol too? After all, they are recreational drugs but certainly not illegal.
I've actually found people who are high to be significantly less annoying and less of a problem than people who are drunk. And this is someone who's on his 8th semester of living on a college campus. As long as you don't do it in my presence, and are doing it of your own free will, I really can't be convinced I should give a damn.
Criminalization is not, nor has it ever been, a solution, to recreational drugs.
Your post probably seems funnier to you now than it will when you're sober.
Don't forget to add the Masons and the Methodists.
No!!! We MUST control the habits of others until they match our own habits and beliefs! The founding fathers would insist that we stop drug use now!
Do you have a source for that statement?
I posted that I hate having to be detrimented by those who are irresponsible with their drug use.
If we once again establish personal responsibility, I won't be pro-wod. However, as long as I have to pay through taxes, et al, for the misuse of idiots, I am pro-wot.

(Hey guys, you wanna see flames? Watch this!)
I found a membership card and some literature for the Libertarian Party in my son's room (he's 4). Is this an indicator of marijuana use?
Owl_Eagle(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
'Blunt' truth. That's kind of a funny headline. Wonder if it's intentional?
"This country, it was founded by people who were aliens,
man. George Washington, man, he was in a cult, a
cult of aliens, man. You didn't know about this, man?
Oh man, they were way into that stuff."
I think dope smokers are all open source developers who secretly write email trojans on their Mac's while watching porn on their TV..they probably like the Yankees too ;)
