Judge Orders 17-Year-Old Girl Not To Have Sex
POSTED: 10:16 am EDT September 30, 2005
SHERMAN, Texas -- No sex. That's part of a sentence imposed on a 17-old-girl by Texas state district judge Lauri Blake.
She's ordered the young drug offender not have sex as long as she is living with her parents and attending school, as a condition of her probation.
It is one of several unorthodox rulings Judge Lauri Blake has imposed since she was elected 10 months ago in the district court that covers Fannin and Grayson counties.
She has also prohibited tattoos, body piercings, earrings and clothing "associated with the drug culture" for those on probation.
Lawyers are also subject to her rulings. Blake has the told female attorneys not wear sleeveless shirts or show cleavage in her courtroom.
Blake agreed to an interview but later declined through her court coordinator.

"But mom, everybody's getting these drug-culture tattoos and piercings. You people are so square and I can't wait to move out!"
"Looks like to me that this self-righteous judge is pandering for votes."
You know when the election is, then. Please share it with us. I will support this judge.
Parents should and do. In this case, the State is acting in the place of the parent for the good of the child.
While the ruling is practically unenforceable, so are many parental "rulings." Silence would be seen as consent, so the State is justified in speaking out.
Condition of probation. I imagine the yout' could always decline the terms of probation and remain in jail.
What if the judge orders the girl not to vote Republican as a condition? Or if the judge orders an abortion? Are you cool with that, too? Or are you only cool with this because it has a feel-good moral flavor mixed in with the judicial activism?
The judge is not the parent
pandering
I tell my Three daughters that all the time as well. And If I think they are having sex I will pay to find out if I can.
I sure don't need a judge to tell the taxpayers to pay for the check for me.
pandering
While her rulings are kind of strange, I applaud her for having a dress code in her court room.
This judge has as much legal authority to order to *stop* having sex as she does to order her to *have* sex.
""What if the judge orders the girl not to vote Republican as a condition? Or if the judge orders an abortion? Are you cool with that, too? Or are you only cool with this because it has a feel-good moral flavor mixed in with the judicial activism?""
What if pigs flew out my ass? What if, what, if?????
I think you are being ridiculous. When a judge orders that, then I'll comment on it.
That's true.
Normally when someone is on probation they have to pay a certain amount each month. It certainly isn't a free ride if that's what you are implying. And they also have to pay for drug screens and the like. So you can relax.
Who is gonna check to see if she violates said probation?
Seems to me the judge wouldn't have had to order a damned thing if this girl wouldn't have been in her court. Right?
Presently, judges all across the country can make up any legislation they want and force elected officials to like it.
I'm just pointing out that some of this stuff sticks in my craw. Judges think they are legislators and now they think they are Mommy and Daddy. What they really are is a bunch of oligarchs.
Won't answer the question? I guess then I have to assume you support judicial activism when the judge mimics your ideology.
Do you know anything about conditions of probation?
I answered the question. When a judge orders what you have mentioned, let me know and we can discuss it. You haven't commented on pigs flying out of my ass. Refuse to do so, because it doesn't support your wacko activist agenda here??
If your daughters were on probation, then the judge could set conditions. If they aren't on probation, you have nothing to worry about.
I'm sure the probation fee will cover obgyn fees to see if she is having sex. < /sarc>
