Bush selling out America

By: FREEMAN SAWYER

George Bush cares nothing about the security of the United States. He is selling out our country every day. No matter what some may say about his efforts in other areas, he continues to destroy our country simply out of greed. The national security of our country is critical to our survival, and no explanation can justify the president's refusal to defend our borders.

When Bill Clinton sold U.S. classified computer technology to the Chinese, we vowed to never forget his crime. Bush's continuing treachery is every bit as bad, or worse. When did party loyalty become more important than saving our country? True patriots put country before party.

Normally, I am the last one to give up on a person, and I have been secretly hoping for the president's conscience to kick in before it's too late. However, I cannot continue to stand idly by with the stakes so high and the danger too close.

Perhaps there are still a few Republicans out there who will continue to wear their blinders as our country becomes populated by masses who come here full of hate for us and what we stand for.

I can hear their excuses even now: "I know Bush was wrong on illegal immigration, but look how tough he stayed on Iraq."

Winning in Iraq won't mean a thing if we lose the battle at home. One without the other is not victory. George Bush has already begun the destruction of the Republican Party because of illegal immigration. The survival of the party will be meaningless if we become another Mexico ---- corrupt and impoverished. How would you like Nuevo Laredo to be your hometown?

Information about Bush's latest "guest worker plan" is starting to seep out. Those now in the country illegally get a free pass to stay permanently. New guest workers will be allowed to stay for six years before they go home ---- but who will make them go? For the past five years, Bush has failed to deport people, even when he knows they are here illegally.

Who will have the political courage to deport guest workers after they have been here six years? Most Americans are demanding no guest workers "who only come here to do jobs Americans won't do because they just want a better life for themselves and their family." More than 80 percent of Americans are demanding Bush seal the border at once, but his plan does no such thing because the rich contributors to the Republican Party have become addicted to cheap labor.

Does anyone really believe Bush's plan will solve the illegal immigration problem? This plan only proves that greed is a higher priority than the opinion of most Americans, their common sense and their national security.

And, what about those who continue to cross illegally? There is no provision in the plan for how long it will be until they are granted amnesty.

Bush's appointment of a highly underqualified person, Julie Myers, to head Immigration and Customs Enforcement is just one more example of the arrogance of this president. The primary duty of ICE is to apprehend alien terrorists. Why would he select a person lacking experience to head this mammoth national security and law enforcement agency if his plan wasn't for it to fail?

Did he not learn anything from the FEMA debacle? Of course, he did. Failure is what he wants, because failure to enforce our immigration laws is what he most desires.

Look at what Bush has accomplished, instead of complaining about a wingnut wishlist not being fulfilled.

Using your reasoning, approximately 75% of Americans are wingnuts because that's how many Americans want our government to do something to solve our country's illegal immigration problem.

The problem I have seen is the difficulty in separating legal from illegal immigration. Too many Hispanic US citizens and legal immigrants see anti-illegal sentiment as racist. The liberal media is certainly spinning it that way as it pertains to conservatives and/or Republicans. This is prevalent in the Spanish-speaking media (according to Mrs. Reb, who is from Puerto Rico) which is even more liberal than the English-speaking media.

I agree that finding a solution to the problem of illegal immigration is going to be difficult because there are many different groups involved in this issue, with several groups being on the pro-illegal immigration side and several groups being on the anti-illegal immigration side. Illegal immigration is another example of our government letting a problem get out-of-control before it steps in and tries to resolve it. But no matter what is finally done to deal with the problem of illegal immigration, a lot of people are going to be very unhappy with our government's "solution".

But I'm with you, if an illegal is caught in a criminal act, he should be deported immediately.

Sorry to say, your not with me. ANY illegal that is discovered should be deported. That is the LAW, and not enforcing the law is what has got me steamed.

These people are not Americans, and they have no right to be here, period. They are all criminals, they have violated our laws, and the government ignores it on purpose. The INS is neutered.

Bush has offered repeatedly his plan. It's not conservative enough for many of you, so you ignore it. All I hear is "NO AMNESTY".

He realizes as I do that repatriating every illegal immigrant in the US to their native country is impossible. Many of these people have children born in the US and are citizens. The logistics themselves would be a nightmare.

Having an armed border without Mexican involvement is only an exercise in futility that would end up with an enemy instead of an ally to our south. WIthout the income garnered by the illegal aliens, Mexico could collapse financially. That would only breed more problems for our nation.

The majority of the latins that have immigrated here are God fearing, hard working family people trying to better themselves. I don't see where that is bad for us. The only way you will ever stop the immigration problem is for Mexico to reach parity with the US in quality of life.

A reasonable work program for immigrants, matched with an ID program to weed out the criminal and terrorist element will not satisfy you. That coupled with a set time limit for remaining in the US is a good plan. If you can't get behind it...tough.

I have had enough of the anti-immigration crap by people who have not thought out the long term consequences of closing the borders.

You are in a tiny minority. Most American Mexicans want the borders secured. NO one said anything about "immigration", only illegal immigration.

I have had enough of the open border crap by people who have not thought out the long term consequences of NOT closing the borders. As has MOST of America.

I'm sorry you missed my point. I'm not for illegal immigration. How about just a reasonable approach to the problem we have.

And by the way, because you have a majority, doesn't guarantee that you are right.

Excellent ideas and I believe they are part of GWB and Rove's thinking on this issue.

"I have had enough of the anti-immigration crap by people who have not thought out the long term consequences of closing the borders."

And we've had more than enough of the "can't be done--too many of 'em" defeatest bullhockey coming out of the pro-illegal alien enablers, apologists and supporters around here.

If you want to support the Bush shamnesty proposal, that's up to you. Just don't expect the rest of us to buy it.

In case you haven't noticed, your views are in the minority at FR as well as across the country.

In my mind, your answer: "...'demanding something from someone on an anonymous web forum, is a good way to hear God laugh'"

As I explained, my "demand" was rhetorical.

Yea, I understand that. I held the same views until recently.

But I no longer believe, with everything else going on in this nation at this time, that closing the borders and deporting everyone in sight is viable.

I support the job that the Minutemen are doing. I would like to see the flow of illegals stopped. But the Feds can't do it now for many reasons. I know that if a suitcase nuke or biological comes in over the border, we are gonna pay horribly. Bush's political consequences won't even matter then.

I also believe that even with a closed southern border, dedicated terrorists will find a way to get in. That is the basis for my support of the war in Iraq. Kill the bad gys first.

All the ecomomic and cultural impacts to the nation are debatable. I see them primarily as a wash. Our nation might end up a little more brown, and a little more Catholic but thats about it. They are a drain through social programs but offset that with cheap labor. One thing I personally have seen, these Latins coming in legally or illegally want to be AMERICANS. Just like my great great grandfather.

With all that in mind, its not GEORGE BUSH's FAULT. Harping on what a terrible job he is doing only gives Dems more ammo against him, and by God he deserves a break.

Flame away, i've got asbestos underwear on!

Call anyone with a Nextel phone and you will see what the heck is going on.

These past few years have been a nightmare in these areas.

NEITHER party is interested in the good of the country. They are only interested in power and money.

Is anyone around here paying attention? It is starting to smell like Sheep Crap around here...anyone else smelling that too?
