WASHINGTON -- After nearly three months behind bars, New York Times reporter Judith Miller was released from a federal prison Thursday after agreeing to testify in the investigation into the disclosure of the identity of a covert CIA officer, two people familiar with the case said.

Miller left the federal detention center in Alexandria, Va., after reaching an agreement with Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald. Legal sources said she would appear before a grand jury investigating the case Friday morning. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because of the secrecy of the grand jury proceedings.

The sources said Miller agreed to testify after securing an unconditional release from Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, to testify about any discussions they had involving CIA officer Valerie Plame.

One lawyer involved in the case said Miller's attorneys reached an agreement with Fitzgerald that may confine prosecutors' questions solely to Miller's conversations with Libby.

She had multiple sources and now won't be questioned any other than Miller. I think this stinks of a set up of Miller. Time will tell, but it looks like, once again, the bad guys get a pass.

She wasn’t getting any attention over the slow summer months so why stay in jail?

I have thought since the very beginning that the whole thing was a publicity stunt; I just couldn’t make up my mind who was trying to attract the publicity - her or the newspaper.

Guess I will know which shortly - see who gets offered a movie/book deal. When in trouble or doubt always follow the money “George”, “Ben” and “Abe” never lie.

"indeed, if that is true - then Fitzgerald has caved."

Either that or Fitzgerald has enough evidence without Miller's testimony. Miller's testimony may be wanted for no other reason than to clear Libby.

She stayed in jail long enough to get a deal with Fitzgerald
to only testify about sources in the Bush administration.
She does not have to reveal any other sources. This talk about principles is just BS

2G2B True, unfortunately. BTW, note that every crisis point Condi has turned her hand to has worked out great for America. And, like Gen. Honore in NO, she has made sure her boss gets the credit. Damn fine Sec. of State.

Well, let's wait and see. I've heard rumors that she's getting a lot of encouragement and she is in fact considering a run. Let's wait and see. Of course my "rumors" are from staffers on the Hill. Just friends.
