WASHINGTON -- After nearly three months behind bars, New York Times reporter Judith Miller was released from a federal prison Thursday after agreeing to testify in the investigation into the disclosure of the identity of a covert CIA officer, two people familiar with the case said.
Miller left the federal detention center in Alexandria, Va., after reaching an agreement with Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald. Legal sources said she would appear before a grand jury investigating the case Friday morning. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because of the secrecy of the grand jury proceedings.
The sources said Miller agreed to testify after securing an unconditional release from Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, to testify about any discussions they had involving CIA officer Valerie Plame.

I suppose Miller will come forth and declare that her source was none other than Tom DeLay.
I am the first post after six minutes in breaking? That's interesting.
Libby gave Miller an unconditional release one year ago. She is full of crap.
She has had plenty of time to get her story straight.
Ok, second.
"I am the first post after six minutes in breaking? That's interesting."
I was busy shaving my back hair.
Hmmm.... she had Libby's release a year ago, so what has changed??? Did she come to learn that Fitzgerald would keep her in jail forever, or did she just need a limited amount of jail time to burnish her credentials for a celebrity speaking tour? When will we know what she tells the GJ? If it hurts the administration it will be leaked right away, but if her testimony cuts against Joe Wilson, Valerie Plame, or anyone else dear to the 'Rats then this will probably drag on a lot longer.
a thread referenced to the Philadelphia Inquirer and another web site bearing the name of a woman whose son is named Jonah was yanked.
She was just holding out for a better book deal. ;)
Much like the recent Delay brouhaha about nothing, the Dems got their mileage out of this story. She'll be a saint to the Dems for spending two months in the joint for them.
I guess we are trying to figger' out why she decided to spend all that time in the slammer...six minutes is nothing!
BUMP!
Maybe this time he said, Cross my heart and hope to die.
That's what I figure, too.
Three months is a long time. The forgeries must be pretty good by now.
This WaPo article makes it sound like this is the first time Libby gave Miller a release. But an earlier 'Philadelphia Inquirer' article says: "She was released after she had a telephone conversation with the Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby, sources said. In that conversation, Libby reaffirmed that he had released Miller from a promise of confidentiality more than a year ago, sources said."

Yea, the Washington Post does not say a word about Libby giving "all persons" an unconditional permission to tell Fitzgerald everything he talked to them about. The Knight-Ridder? article did. Miller just wanted to play "the victim" and she probably wrote a tear jerker book while she was in there.
no, something is going on here. the timing is suspicious. first Frist, then this Delay thing, and now all of a sudden she pops up and agrees to testify? in a month, the Fitzgerald grand jury will be over. at that time, she would be released - or could decide to testify then to avoid a criminal contempt charge or continue to be held if further proeedings convene.
why is she doing this now?
"Miller, you're free to go"
"Wait, I need another six weeks to finish my book... do you mind if I stay?"
