Elian was brought to this country by his mother trying to escape communism

100% correct.

And I'll add that her escape was not only known by Juan Miguel, but encouraged.

Elian was stolen by his deranged mother, who risked his life and lost hers in the process. It was a case of out of the frying pan into the fire, however, as the kind of Miami rabble he ended up with could have messed up his head permanently.

They were the worst kind of attention-seekers - a fainting, shrieking nail salon employee and a drunk driving old man.

Hopefully, Elian won't return to the US until he has his own machine gun to protect himself from these Miami criminals.

Buckhead, where are you? We need you to stir things up again and maybe 60 Minutes will sign off once and for all.

"Is there some brain-curdling disease at CBS ..."

May I use this superbly apt phrase? Fits to a T.

I live in Miami. I know the Gonzalez family.

Your comments are beyond insulting.

Easy to talk trash about other people when you're across an ocean from them, huh?

You can debate whether Elian should have stayed or gone without resorting to name-calling.

I guess the Slickmeister is an honorable dealer after all. (It did cost Algore the presidency, just as Slick knew it would)

In what Miami Cuban exiles would say is propaganda, Castro attended the boy's elementary school graduation...

Sounds about right. What would CBS's Bob Simon say about Castro's attendance of the boy's elementary school graduation?

"I live in Miami. I know the Gonzalez family."

Say hi to them for me and tell them to keep their hands off that kid.

It's the mark of the fanatic, that if someone doesn't say what you want him to say, you think he must have been brainwashed. What your "friends" did to this boy could have left him with permanent damage.

Fortunately, he is safe with his real family, not with a bunch of attention-seeking Miami Cubans.

He'll probably grow up to be an intelligent, well-rounded human being, not just because of the media attention his plight attracted but because Cuba has one of the highest standards of literacy in the world.

So he can realistically expect to receive a better education there than he would have got in the Miami public school he would otherwise have stagnated in. Or (shudder at the thought) that mob could have tried to homeschool him.

I refuse to watch a single second of the scumbag vermin rats show 60 Minutes. This is the same show that cost Dan Rather his job. You remember Dan Rather saying the documents are “fake but accurate”?

This is nothing but a communist propaganda piece to say it was ok to send this Kid back to a country being held hostage by one of the most ruthless Dictators in the 20th century. Keep in mind while Janet Reno was planning to send this kid back to Cuba the Terrorist were training less than 2 miles away...
