Here's more info on Clement...best I can do for now:

""Judge Clement was born in Birmingham, Alabama and educated at the University of Alabama, receiving her B.A. in 1969, and at Tulane Law School, where she received a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1972. Her early career included a period clerking for Judge Herbert W. Christenberry at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana (1973-1975), after which she worked as a maritime attorney in private practice in New Orleans, Louisiana until 1991.

On October 1, 1991 Clement was nominated to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana by George H.W. Bush. She was confirmed by the Senate to this post on November 21, 1991 (by a vote of 99-0), and received commission on November 25, 1991. In 2001 she served as chief judge of this court, before being nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

She was nominated to her current seat on September 4, 2001 by President George W. Bush, was confirmed by the Senate on November 13, 2001 by a vote of 99-0, and received her commission on November 26, 2001.

Judge Clement is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the Federal Bar Association, the American Law Institute, the Federalist Society, the Tulane Law School's Inn of Court, and the Committee on the Administrative Office of the Judicial Conference of the United States.

With John Roberts' promotion to Chief Justice by President Bush, the media has mentioned Clement as a possible choice to fill what would have been his spot as an Associate Justice because she is a woman. Time (magazine) however stated that Clement's current chances seem to be somewhat diminished because the Bush administration believes her to be guilty of excessive self-promotion.""

"I got Ronnie Earle."

You must have selected the "Dealbreaker Important" choice for the question "How important is it to you that the nominee has previously indicted a ham sandwich?"

Yup. He screwed the pooch.

I wish I could take credit, but he hasn't listened to me since he first ran for the Senate (before then, I hadn't heard of him; otherwise, he wouldn't have listened to me for far longer).

If we had the time (we don't), Brown should go up to show the dems colors... then Luttig.

But that will not happen.

ROFLMAO. The follow-up question was "How important is it to you that the ham sandwich not contain ham or bread?"

I think Bush should put up Janice Rogers Brown first. If that doesn't go through, then he should come back with Luttig.

That way the woman issue is addressed. And if Luttig can perform as well as Roberts in the hearings, I think a filibuster would be difficult.

I know, he angers me so. I have e-mailed him so many times on issues, he gives me the usual "lip service". The thing that drives me the most crazy is, when he is in the state, he gives all of my fellow Hoosiers what they want to hear, then goes to DC and does the exact opposite! For the life of me, how do they elect him!!!!! He didn't and never will get my vote.

I say JR Brown followed by the nuke option. But if I had to bet I'd guess we get someone like Chubby Landrieux's pal Joy Clement. One of those pro-abort "conservatives". Or someone nobody's ever heard of.

It's afternoon in Washington. When's he going to announce?

Oh man, wouldn't that be just too good?

President Bush: "I nominate John Bolton."

I completely agree. I see little downside risk in being as aggressive as possible with the next nominee.

Probably the same as last time....later this evening after the evening network news programs.
