Poll: Most doctors (63%) favor evolution theory over I.D. (However, Protestant Doctors...)

A national survey of 1,472 physicians indicates more than half -- 63 percent -- believe the theory of evolution over that of intelligent design.

The responses were analyzed according to religious affiliation.

When asked whether they agree more with intelligent design or evolution, 88 percent of Jewish doctors and 60 percent of Roman Catholic physicians said they agree more with evolution, while 54 percent of Protestant doctors agreed more with intelligent design.

When asked whether intelligent design has legitimacy as science, 83 percent of Jewish doctors and 51 percent of Catholic doctors said they believe intelligent design is simply "a religiously inspired pseudo-science rather than a legitimate scientific speculation." But 63 percent of Protestant doctors said intelligent design is a "legitimate scientific speculation."

The study was conducted by the Louis Finkelstein Institute for Social and Religious Research at The Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City and HCD Research in Flemington, N.J.

The May 13-15 poll had a margin of error plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Interestingly enough, only 35 percent of doctors think public schools should be prohibited from teaching I.D.

Hey these docs are "trained" and they know where the butter comes from that gets spread upon their bread. Some people are more equal than the rest and the "cream" rises to the top.

Mine doesnt believe there is a creator and I asked him if that was so; then what is the purpose of life? If there is no life after death then why bother? No reward for this life why bother? Hell if thats so, then kill, steal, cheat and lie all you want as there's no threat after you die-this explains the democrats now doesnt it?

The question is totally skewed. It makes sense that almost all Jewish doctors would agree with evolution because in Judaism, evolution and G-d's creation are not contradictory.

Indeed. Why would a Darwinist become a doctor? If you're ill or weak, that's just because you are genetically inferior! Nobody should bother to help you; instead, we should just let natural selection take over. Survival of the fittest, and all that.

I wonder what the percentage of Darwinist beliefs is among abortionists and supporters of euthanasia...

So the only reason Christians don't kill, steal, cheat and lie is fear of hell?

That's right. It's simply inconceivable that one not believing in the Christian God could ever possibly have any morals whatsoever. /sarc

Why would a IDer become a doctor? If you're ill or weak, that's just because that was the will of the designer! Nobody should bother to help you; instead, we should just follow the designers plan. He/she/it is the intelligent one, and all that.

That's a ridiculous strawman. We have the power to change what characteristics we select for. You want examples? Near-sightedness and childhood diabetes. Until the invention of eyeglasses and insulin, people with both characteristics were naturally selected against and often died in childhood. Now they're not, and the allele frequencies of those particular traits are much higher. Its not that near-sighted people are less fit than those with 20-20, its that they used to be less fit, but now (thanks to medicine, eyeglasses, large print) they're not.

they still cannot define the "spark" that started their
unscientific theory in motion .Still cannotexplain why Evolution can violate what is accepted as scientific law --
(thermodynamics -etc.)still cannot explain why if they came from monkeys -why we do not see evidence of monkeys becoming
men today.Oh the Democratic socialists try making monkeys out of all of us but such is a topic for another thread.

"... a religiously inspired pseudo-science" which, of course, is what evolution (not to mention global warming) is starting to become.

"they still cannot define the "spark" that started their
unscientific theory in motion."

Why should they, it isn't part of the theory; it doesn't claim to describe anything but the change of gene frequency in populations of organisms.

"Still cannotexplain why Evolution can violate what is accepted as scientific law --
(thermodynamics -etc."

Because it doesn't.

"still cannot explain why if they came from monkeys -why we do not see evidence of monkeys becoming
men today."

Because that would be a falsification of the theory. The ToE doesn't predict this at all.

If you put down that creationist pamphlet and read some biology you wouldn't make so many hilarious errors.

Yes. I noticed that questions about global warming, etc, were strangely missing from the poll.
