From my understanding, however, he had no choice but to be removed...House rules. I'm sure his vindication will come, but he's being "punished" (his words) in the meantime for being removed as House leader, which, he said, is what they wanted.

Yes, it's a House rule, but if I'm not mistaken, I think it's one that the Republicans imposed on themselves, if I'm understanding it correctly. I don't think the Democrats ever had that rule in place for themselves, but I might be wrong.

I am tired of them using these tactics, and I hope it backfires on them, BIG TIME.

DeLay's stepping down temporarily is not a matter of House Rules, it is a matter of Republican Caucus Rules. The Democrats have no similar Rule. If they are indicted, they stay in office.
