Just caught Delay on Hardball with Chris Matthews.

He said that this attack on him is an organized attack by the DNC, Nancy Pelosi and the Texas Democratic Party.

Man, he's on fire!!!

Is DeLay the guy who said he'd gotten rid of all the wasteful government spending? Same guy who rammed through all the "highway" and "energy" porkage this summer?

What a guy. Send him to prison just for that.

Totally idiotic comment.

If this goes in front of a Clinton Judge Delay will be hung for ideological reasons.

He will go in front of a Fort Bend County jury. He lives in Sugarland, in Fort Bend County.

If this proves as bogus as it sounds, I think the Republicans in the State Legislature will work hard to have Earle disbarred.

Maybe because he is innocent and hiding behind the Statue of Limitations would be spun as an admission of guilt by the Dinasour Media?

Well that's a PR calculation, my own view is the damage from an indictment (headline, p.A1) and eventual dismissal or acquittal (blurb, p. A23) is worse than "Delay not indicted because S/L ran out."

"Unfortunately, in the meantime, the weasels have gotten Delay removed as House Majority Leader."

Temporarily, but I'm sure he can still work his magic behind the scenes. He removed himself temporarily so that he would not give the RATS an extra talking point.

...he's been replaced already as majority leader...

Temporary, until Delay comes back. These are not HOUSE rules, they are GOP rules.

Totally idiotic comment.

What do you expect from the Moveon.org "conservatives" They will not be happy until they can help elect a Govt that will give them 100% of everything they CLAIM to loath.

Totally idiotic comment.

Expect nothing less from a guy who lost Dagny to John Galt. (/obscure Atlas Shrugged reference)

I heard his response, I thought the guy had kahonies to sit there in front of God and everybody to answer questions, Britt did not pull any punches in my view nor did he hit below the belt, just true Brit fashion.

Well that's a PR calculation

I did not say I agreed with it. I am saying that MAY be the reason.

From my understanding, however, he had no choice but to be removed...House rules. I'm sure his vindication will come, but he's being "punished" (his words) in the meantime for being removed as House leader, which, he said, is what they wanted.

This is serious.

About as serious as bogus documents in Dan Rather's greasy fingers

No matter if he thinks it's frivolous....

The charges are not only frivolous, but trumped up.

he's been replaced already as majority leader...

Temporarily.

No matter what he thinks personally, it's bad face to be laughing about it on tv.

I've been laughing about this all day. Ronnie Earle just didn't suddenly appear out of nowhere. He's a partisan Democrat hack, who's had an axe to grind with Texas Republicans for over a decade or better.

I like DeLay. Blunt and to the point. Doesn't take no BS. We need guys like him in GWB's inner circle that don't back down from the RAT media.
